I have currently been looking into developing support for PCIe based sounds cards. Please let me know if this would be a project you would like to see.

  1. Been having trouble in Yosemite getting my USB 3.0 ports to work at all. Didn’t seem to have a problem with Mavericks, but Yosemite seems to make them stop working.

  5. Hi
    Great new website.

I have a small little problem: All my internal USB (on the MoBo) are not working. I use the newest clover revision with 10.10 Yosemite and the GenericUSB3XHCI kext. All USB 3 Ports work.

MoBo: Asus Rampage 4 Gene with i7 4930k

  7. Hello Rampage.
    I have a problem.
First I will list my system, then I will talk about the problem.

Asus Rampage IV Extreme – Bios 4901
Asus Radeon 7970 DirectCU II Top
    Intel i7 3930k stock
    8GB Memoria Ripjaws 1866mhz
    Clover 3033
    Yosemite 10.10.1

I have a problem with the video card. Yosemite recognizes the video card as “AMD Radeon HD 7xxx 3072 MB” when you start it for the first time, without even having a SSDT, and even after putting the SSDT it still knows the same way.

The problem is this. I installed a game to test the video card, specifically World of Warcraft. But when I put the graphic in ultra, the game is too slow, when I turn to the side very fast the FPS drops to 8-11.
So I lowered the graphic and put in the middle. I thought would stop the problem but he persisted. The only difference is that it was a lighter intensity.

I tried to repair by the tutorial “Edit DSDT AMD 7000 Series” but I was not able. I put all the code names “Personality” but still did not repair my problem. So I went back to its original SSDT for AMD cards.
I may have done something wrong, I read that tutorial several times, I saw a video about it too, but I found it difficult to understand.

So after several failed attempts, I took a separate HD, and I installed Windows, I installed the newer drives the video card and I enter in the game. I put the graphic in ultra, and the FPS was always above 60, even when I turn to the side very fast. The graphic was perfect. I realized that the problem was actually on the Mac.

I’ll post my IOReg and SSDT I use, if you can help me I would be grateful, but I know it is a complicated problem, and I do not know if have solution.

Thanks. And sorry my Badd english.

    • The 7xxx is caused by the lack of a Framebuffer loaded for the GPU. That said a FB is not always needed for the newer GPUS.

Your issue seems to be that the GPU does not go up into the High Power State. This can be addressed by editing AGPM.kext using the Legacy Method. This will be updated soon.

  8. Hi,
I wanted to know if boot issues with GPU (blank screens) are still here with 10.10.
I’m still with 10.9.5 and with your trick in smbios to boot with my gpu detected.

The upgrade guide from mavericks to yosemite is still planned ?

  9. I’m looking at the possibility of replacing my mac pro next year and would like to build a hackintosh using a Intel Core i7-5960X. Any recommendations on a motherboard / vid card combo for this setup? Can I over-clock this in Yosemite or Mavericks? Also, can I control the CPU and system fans in OS X?

  10. Hi Andrew,

I followed your guide, use only the kexts, config.plist, ssdt and ssdt-1 from your diskimage. Everything is working fine except Power Management. Am I overlooking something? What do you mean by “Also you must update your SMBIOS.plist and install the updated FakeSMC for this to work properly“?

    my Specs:
    Asus Sabertooth X79 Bios 4801
    Intel i7 3930k@stock
    GTX 770 2GB
    Clover_v2k_r3050
    Mavericks 10.9.5

  11. In the Power Management guide of the DMG you write “If your CPU is in the SSDT folder then use the pre generated file there“ thats what I do. I genereated my own with SSDTPRGen before but it has no effect either way.

    • Most of the bugs have been addressed. Since Clover Kernel injection is broken in 10.10 it makes it difficult to update when new updates come out. For a production environment you should wait until end of January at the minimum.

      • Andrew, my apologies for getting off topic with but I’ll make it quick and short.

A small part of me doesn’t want to wait till Jan so would you suggest to just go with a X79 mobo and go with a i7-4930K? This build will be for Video Editing mostly.

  13. You mean this one: AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext
    Before I put in Clover/kexts/10.9
After I installed it in SLE the Power Management works! Thank you for your patience Andrew.

  14. First, thanks a ton for your guides, they have helped me with multiple OSX installations!

Just installed OSX 10.10.1 on my system using your x79 dmg and have everything working except for my USB3 ports. Neither the MOBO IO panel ports or the case ports work. USB2 prots on the IO panel obviously work fine. I have tried the Beta GenericUSBXHCI.kext in addition to the one included for my mobo in the dmg.

    System:
    ASUS x79 Deluxe
    I7-4930k
    Nvidia GTX970
    I’m using chameleon boot loader.

You are talking about the Haswell.DMG?

If this is reply to me, sorry, I just read throught about ten times and I can’t see what I missed, here is what I did:

        1. I made the USB as per instructions and booted the USB, then wiped the HDD and installed initial and second install.

        2. I booted up the HDD and installed FakeSMC and the RTL 8111 as per step 1 through 9

        3. I read through 10. – 13 it says:

        10. Go back to the Files folder
11. Go to the appropriate Folder for your Motherboard Manufacture
12. Locate the Folder for your Motherboard
13. Copy the SSDT.aml based on the brand of your Graphics Card
Could not see a specific place to where I am supposed to copy to. So did nothing.

        4. I downloaded newest Clover and installed as per the image in Clover folder. Then copied the Config.plist from the DMG to replace the one already there. As in 14 to 18

        5. I mounted EFI and copied SSDT from nvidia folder to EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/Patched. 19 to 23

        6. I restarted and had network access – 24

        7. Then I tried the ALC in “AppleHDA 10.10” folder. “audio_realtekALC-100_v1.0.3.command” – 27

If further help is going to be billed then let me know – All your work is appreciated : )

  17. I used to have Maverick with the Chameleon bootloader, but since I moved to Clover for Yosemite I can’t boot in Windows anymore. I see “Legacy HD 1” and “Legacy HD 2” as windows drives in Clover but both leads to nowhere. I was used to see a “Windows 7” and a “System Reserved” partition

  18. Did you ever get your G3258 Z97 PC Mate test system to work with an OS higher than Mac OS X 10.8.5?

Are you still working on getting the G3258 to boot Yosemite?

  19. Hi I can’t seem to get my 2560×1440 monitor working with my hackintosh. The screen flickers like crazy only when this monitor is connected. Everything is fine with my 1080p monitor. I tested the 1440p monitor on my friend’s MacPro and it works fine. My specs:
    Intel i7 4820k
    Asrock x79 xtreme6
    Radeon r9 290x
    Achieva Shimian QH270 (monitor)
