  1. Hi Rampage,

Followed the guide exactly, and made it through the installation.

(I did have to use the nv_disable=1 flag, but don’t think that is related to this problem..)

When I booted into my Clover USB afterwards, however, the disk with the Yosemite installed no longer appears, so I can’t boot into it.

    Any suggestions?

    Reply
    • So you booted to the installer, formatted the disk, selected the Drive to installed to and then clicked continue and then failed to boot into the installer the 2nd time is what I am understanding. If you don’t boot to the installer the second time you are not actually installing anything.

      Reply
      • OH I understand now!

I thought I had just installed it, because at the end of Part 7 it says “when the installer is complete restart”.

So in part 8, step 3, I saw “use the arrow keys to select the drive, etc.” and thought I’d be able to see the installed drive already in the Clover USB disk list, but not so!

It appears to be installing now after choosing “boot to external” on the second round.

        Thanks!

I have looked for it in the comments and not found anything about it.

I had the same allocation error when using aplo v2, created a new usb disk and tryed not selecting any aplo driver but then i got a boot error0.
Also happened on another key that used to work, but then all of a sudden gpt boot error

    • Hi Rampage,

I appreciate all your hard work on here. I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting my x79-up4 to fully boot after swapping out my 4930k for a 2697v2. The bios sees the CPU and gives me all readings from all 12 cores, but I can’t get it to boot into my osx install. Was solid with the 4930k. Do you know if getting the 2697v2 running is even possible? I’m on 10.10.4.

      Thanks,

      Jeff

  2. I got through the install successfully, ran the initial setup and downloaded your x79 DMG.

I got through all the steps up to the first reboot — but after rebooting I found I still could not boot without nv-disable=1.

Now I can get to the login screen, but after entering my password the computer gets stuck on the spinning BBOD.

My mobo is a p9x79 Pro and my Graphics is a GTX 560 SE. It seems to be a graphics problem, but I don’t know what I can do without being able to get into the OS to install some drivers or something.

    Thoughts?

    • Update:

Was able to borrow a GTX 760 from a friend, and I booted up no problem. I guess the 560 SE has issues with Yosemite :-(

  3. I am not clear about step 6 of Part 6: kext installation:

“6. Copy the Kexts into that folder.”

I’m not sure what ‘the Kexts’ are or where they come from. I assume that “that folder” refers to the /EFI/CLOVER/kexts folder described in steps 4 & 5.

I’m trying to install 10.10 Yosemite on an x99-UD4 motherboard.

    Can you please clarify?

    Thanks!

    • This part was a little confusing to me also. I believe the kexts he is referring to are the “generic extensions to boot” that has a link which will download the kexts for you.

I think it would be more clear if it just said “download the kexts here” or something. I didn’t know what generic extensions meant.

  4. Thanks for this great guide. So there is no issue with Haswell early reboot as in laptops no need to have KernelPM enabled in Clover? Also any issues with the latest Bios from Asus as far as CFG locks. One very important question is the OsxAptioFixDrv-64 driver do we use original version or V2 now in the latest Clover installers? For POST install do I still need clover config.plist with npci=0x2000 option enabled or not?

    When I enter “-v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 nv_disable=1” in the arguments, (I have nvidia 780 GPU)
(I even tried each argument separately)
I get the following text then freezes:

    OsxAptioFixDrv:Starting overrides for .IABootfiles\boot.efi

  7. Everything installed flawlessly both Pre and Post. I get this error every time I get to the desktop, The Disk You Inserted Was Not Readable by this Computer, Initialize, Ignore or Eject. I have two samsung 512 SSD drives, one for windows 8 and the other for OSX Yosemite. I have Trim Enabler, enabled. I may re-install windows 8 because I may not have installed as UEFI if that is even possible? If that is the case could that be why I get this error when I get to the desktop? The disks showing on the desktop are the OSX for the one SSD with clover and System Reserved and Untitled disk where my windows 8 is installed for the other SSD. I have the Asus Z97-A MB with Haswell i7-4970K Processor. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  10. Hey Andrew,
Thanks for this guide, I was having a ton of trouble with UniBeast (Banned) so I thought I’d try giving Clover a try to install 10.10. I’m installing on an Asus Z97 with a 4790k and GTX 760. I was able to follow the guide up to Part 8, I wasn’t familiar with Clover so I started the OS X install without adding the kext-dev-mode=1 boot flag. Even without any boot flags I made it to the Yosemite Install. After formatting the drive and hitting install OS X, I get stuck at “About a second remaining”. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h139/kthung/1210142229_zpsq9uudzfp.jpg
Am I ok to just hard reset the computer and retry the install from step 8?

    Reply
    • No. You need to wait. This counter has not worked since 10.8.5. Let it do its thing. Its a Apple issue.

      • I just let it be and after 10 minutes the screen just goes black and nothing happens (I even left it like this overnight). Once this happens I can’t boot into anything with the usb drive plugged in or unplugged. I can’t get to the UEFI USB Boot screen, and I can’t even get to the BIOS screen. The screen just stays black when I turn on the computer and it stays like that. Any thoughts?

I tried from the very beginning by reformatting the USB drive and installing clover and the Yosemite install drive. I also added the “-v kext-dev-mode=1 nv_disable=1” boot flags and the same thing happens.

        • So the system went to sleep is what you are telling me but you did not realize that it did.

Sounds like more is going on here.

        • If the computer is going to sleep while its stuck at “About a second remaining” what should I be doing instead? I don’t see how it would go to sleep in the middle of an installation and why that would prevent me from booting up into the UEFI boot screen again after I hard restart the computer?

        • When it hangs this is normal.

Something may be stuck in the NVRAM perhaps.

        • Was there every any more follow up on this?

Mine is also getting to the point of initial reboot after the 7-9 minute “initial Yosemite install” and going black screen — at which time it’s supposed to reboot and we are to select the Install Yosemite from Clover menu to continue/finish the Yosemite install

And the only way for me to get the computer booting again is disconnecting power cord, waiting 8 seconds, re-connect and boot again.

..but then I’m just back to step one because when I start the Yosemite Installer again it’s behaving as though it’s the first time, all over again.

        • Don’t let the computer go to sleep.

        • As a follow-up I was able to get through the entire Yosemite install and first boot-up into the desktop using the follow flags: “dart=0 kext-dev-mode=1 nv_disable=1 PCIRootUID=1 -v” At the same time I was wiggling the mouse the entire time it was stuck at About a second remaining to make sure the computer didn’t sleep (though it doesn’t make sense to me why sleep would even be enabled during an install). I can’t tell you which of these was the reason for my success. Good luck!

        • It will take up to 20 mins to get past 0 time remaining.

Please do not use unsupported boot flags and mixing install methods as the Flags you used are incorrect and shout not be used. Your creating issues.

  13. Worked like a charm on my P9X79 Pro with x79 SSDT! Even USB 3.0 works! The only problem I’m experiencing is when I’m trying to run two GPUs at the same time – GT9500 and GTX570. My machine is built specifically for video editing, so I was using GT9500 as a GUI and GTX570 as a processing card. I can still run both of them, but Yosemite shows only 512MB available RAM on my GTX570 when I’m running it along with GT9500. When I take 9500 out, Yosemite shows 2 gigs for GTX570. Haven’t done tests to see how it affects performance, but 9500 is so old, I need to replace it :) Anyway, thanks for your great work!

Only dsdt patch applied manually w/out clover: hdmi audio, worked good on mavs.

Used some of the clover acpi patches until it was working ok and not crashing in mavs. Experimented with them.

Could not get into desktop w/video for XX then decided to let it finish installing w/out the video and went shopping. I come back and there is video and all is working but on restart, once again gets to DT and no video. once in awhile i see it load video but often just crashes at the desktop without a crash message, (seems at the point when the card flicks desktop on) I am confuzzled on this one.

It did boot the third time in the install proccess and worked but video sometimes/sometimes not kicks in at desktop more often not. I just now let clover auto config plist and it worked once but on restart got the same. Not sure if taking out the rt variables section rom/mlb which I had changed from mac pro to imac to stop the tymcedriver blockage had anything to do with it

  31. Hi Andrew,

Firstly, thank you for all the work you’ve put in.

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH and a EVGA GeForce GTX 760 4GB, with one 4K monitor attached to the graphics card not the motherboard.

    Q1.
I have the latest motherboard bios “F4” but I’m not able to get past part 7 of your guide. I’m not able to disable CMS, however I am able to change secure booting to Other OS. The CMS settings on my motherboard can be either set to, “Always” and “Never” The following is what happens:

If Other OS is selected, CMS is greyed out and set to “Always”. If secure booting is set to Windows 8, I can change CMS It to “Never”. I have even tried setting secure booting to Windows 8, changing CMS to “Never”, then changing secure booting back to Other OS, but after I save the settings, reboot and go back into the bios, it reverts back to “Always”.

    Q2.
Are there any other settings you recommend changing in the bios; like:

XHCI and EHCI handoff, enabled or disabled?
Thunderbolt security set to Unique or Legacy mode?
Should wake from thunderbolt be enabled or disabled?

    Thank you

    Reply
    • You must change one at a time in the BIOS saving and restarting after disabling CSM, then back to the BIOS to change to Other OS.

DO NOT change any other setting in the BIOS other then changing Thunderbolt Security to Legacy. DO NOT change any other setting.

I let it sit for 20 minutes and it just stayed there. Can’t seem to find anything on this subject other than swapping out a video card according to a previous comment. That seems pretty ridiculous considering that I’ve already boot to desktop. Do you have a solution to this other than getting a new video card? I was thinking about reformatting and disabling the login prompt. What do you think?

  35. Hello! Thanks for the guide! :)

    It’s almost everything clear. But:
    – When I install the Clover on the USB, should I install with these settings, what is here in install guide, or with settings what is on the Haswell DMG (Files->Step 1->picture)?
    – In postinstallation I just repeat the steps, Clover install, config.plist, SSDT, kexts?
    – Where is the DSDT, it’s recommend for my mackintosh? i7 4790K and Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H, I use CPU’s graphics(HD 4600)

    • Use the Install Guide for install settings. And the DMG for post install.

Some systems may require a SSDT/Config/Kexts from there respective DMG to boot into the installer and should be used as needed.

  36. Hi Andrew,

Thank you for the response. I tried your suggestion but to no avail. CSM support keeps reverting back to “Always”. I checked out the manual, which states as follows:

    “CSM Support
Enables or disables UEFI CSM (Compatibility Support Module) to support a legacy PC boot process. Always Enables UEFI CSM. (Default)
Never Disables UEFI CSM and supports UEFI BIOS boot process only.

This item is configurable only when Windows 8 Features is set to Windows 8.”

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

I want to install Yosemite. From reading the intro paragraph, I won’t be able to do that directly due to Clover not supporting Kernel injection on 10.10. But I am confused as to how go about it. Can you please clarify:

If I install Yosemtie using a Hackintosh, I must first install a pre-Yosemite version (using this guide + X99 dmg post install) then upgrade to Yosemite?

Thank you in advance, this will be my first Hackintosh install.

    • Install 10.10.1 using a Real Mac or a Hackintosh that supported UEFI Booting. Once booted in post install apply the DMG and after that is done put the drive into the x99 hack.

I have a question regarding the installation of the video card driver (GTX 970). Do install the drivers for it in the Mac Mini or do I do that after the SSD drive is in the X99 build?

        Much appreciated.

  41. I went ahead and installed without disabling CSM, (I don’t think I had much choice as it would not let me disable it) and all seems to be ok. I can boot into Yosimite but I can only do so via the USB drive. If I remove the USB drive and try to boot, I get the following message:

“Reboot and Select the proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key.”

Can you help? I’ve obviously missed a step or two, but not so obvious to me :(

    • You need to set the UEFI version of the drive as the primary boot. Also if you leave CSM enabled you need to configure the settings to UEFI so it sees your drive as bootable.

        • I figured something out here.

After the installation finished, i installed clover, and followed the steps in the dmg for my board “RIVE”. Everything seemed to go smoothly.
I’m using another clover version since it got updated a few days ago, it behaves differently than the previous one “3095 i think it was named”, when i used the previous version it instantly rebooted if i tried to boot the HDD “weird since it booted fine with the USB” but I’m now able to boot fine with the HDD boot loader, and I’m writing from the hack as we speak. Runs smoothly at the moment.

        • You need the HFS Driver provided in the install guide.

Sadly the documentation on “enter boot flags” and even the answer to other q’s on this subject have no meaning to me. I see no “options” to enter flags for my lga 2011 mb or to turn on verbose to see what is happening. I click on all the clover buttons before executing boot, but no where do I see a flags or options selection. A screenshot would have been helpful in the tutorial for these “btw – enter flags” or “switch to verbose” options. Thanks for all your research on this subject.

      • Dear Andrew, I’ve found out that this halt on the “DSMOS has arrived “relates to some sort of hardware protection (DSMOS = Dont Steal Mac OS).

It relates to a mismatch of the motherboard chipset and the fakesmc and config.plist files.

I’ve used the Haswell.DMG files of yours ( this: http://www.rampagedev.com/?page_id=50 ). i used the two kexts from there and the config.plist file from there. The ASUS Z97-K will not boot with these (DSMOS).

Your description also mentions a list of compatible motherboards, but there’s no such section. Or am i missing something?

Anyway, i wonder what could you suggest at this point. Thanks!

  60. Hi Andrew,

Just wanted to thank you again for your efforts – just upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite (Rampage IV Black, 4930K, GTX 770). I was originally using Chameleon, now swapped over to Clover with your guides, which were extremely easy to follow!

I also wanted to give a heads up to anyone with a similar set-up as me – I had issues getting in to the installer and was getting kernel panic. You may need to disable bluetooth and Wifi from BIOS. I’m not sure why this is, but it seemed to have stopped panic and the rest of the process ran extremely smoothly. It may even be a better idea to load optimized defaults and then apply the BIOS changes needed (would that be right?)

Secondly, to get proper speedstepping working on the 4930K I had to make sure the SMBios was a 6,1 Mac Pro. Before this I was only getting 2 states. Follow Andrew’s DMG and guides down to the letter and everything is flawless.

    Thanks again Andrew, awesome work!!

The issue with CSM not switching to “disabled” might have something to do with the graphics card not fully supporting EFI. I have two older cards, a GTX560 ti 448 and an HD6870, and have the same problem with both in two identical motherboards. See this thread:

In my guide I have it listed to be disabled by defualt as most poeple installing on a newer board will have this ablity. Thanks for the Feedback.

  67. Hi,
after a weird fight with the clover settings and the motherboard, hyper threading now works with your patched kernel.
    To sum up:
    1. Exchanged Kernels – got Kernel panics.
    2. I remembered that I created DSDT.aml with clover “F4” when hyper threading was disabled.
    3. I recreated DSDT.aml with hyper threading enabled and exchanged the Clover patched DSDT.
    4. Hyperthreading worked but my LAN (8086:1521) I350 with I210 Driver stopped working.
    5. Messed around with the clover settings (exchanged smbios Imac 12.2 with Mac Pro 6.1 which ceased my NVIDIA GFX from working) until I wasn´t able to boot anyway, weird graphics on the verbose screen, pixels all over, Fault CPU Errors – had to restore from Time Machine. Then, after restore, suddenly I got mp_cpus_call_wait again, in opposite to “no HPETs found” as earlier.
    6. Tried to recreate DSDT with all hyper threading cores enabled, copied to ACPI/patched, created SSDT with ssdtprgen script, also to ACPI/patched. After that I was unable to boot, kernel panic – AICPM Panic.
    7. Pulled out HD, deleted SSDT, rebooted, accidentally with HT on, booted – OK
Now It runs 32Logical Cores, but in System profiler, It only shows 16 Cores.
Geek bench went from 27000 to 33400

Actually, I don´t know what happened exactly. Tried to much. Also weird is when in Clover Options, CPU tuning menu, Clover shows only 1 CPU and Cores enabled is always 8 no matter if HT is enabled or disabled.
Also Turbo and Speedstep is showing up there, but I don´t recognize Turbo with HWMonitor.

However, here is my EFI Folder as ZIP

Firstly, thanks, as this is the second time i’ve installed OSX using your guides and X79 SSDT files. After working out that my out dated BIOS on my P9X79 WS was causing a kernel panic on this install, i’m now up and running.

My one question was regarding the overclock SSDT or stock SSDT for my 3930K.
Do i have to do an exact overclock, or close to 4.5GHz, in order to use that SSDT?

      • Ok, my last question, i hope…!

I’ve overclocked my CPU (3930K) to 4.5GHz, all working fine and showing as that in Intel Power Gadget, although it is pegged at that speed.

The power usage idles at a nice 12-13 watts, and bumps right up when stressing the CPU.

I take it that the power state bumps it up and down when needed, but speed stepping is pretty much a no no on the 3930K LGA2011?

the beta ssdt.aml you send me works like a charm, thank you. i was able to change the patcher script found HDEF and replaced them with HDAU, saved it and i works. Sound is no longer my problem.

Now my only “problem” is that the automatic boot doesn´t work, i tried all version of:

        Boot

        Arguments
        kext-dev-mode=1
        DefaultVolume
        LastBootedVolume or MacHDD
        Legacy
        PBR
        Secure

        Timeout

  74. OK, just a heads up, i created my own PM SSDT using ssdtPRGen and replaced the one supplied on the DMG for P9X79 WS v2, and all is now working.
Seems like it may have been some slight difference in my machine?!

I did also get some errors about the CPU ID maybe not being set correctly and the mainboard ID too. Is this normal?!

    Thanks again dude..

I used the proper config.plist from your X79 dmg, which adds npci=0×2000
The installer start but then I get a kernel panic
Verbose mode gives me what looks like a GPU related issue:
I get several ‘RadeonSensors: Still waiting for accelerator to start’
Then ‘Error unable to find ATY/,bin_image’
    Thx for your input

  80. Hi! Thank you for your guide. I did everything you said untill booting. I have a black screen with an apple and nothing else. Maybe I did something wrong and I needed to add more kexts (I added only Generic Extensions you added). I don’t know…

And where do I need to type it? I see only interface of Clover boot with options, uefi 64 and etc…?

    LGA 2011: -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000
    LGA 1366: -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000
    LGA 1150: -v
    LGA 1155: -v

    Needed for 10.10: kext-dev-mode=1

    Nvidia GPU issues use: nv_disable=1

Now I use Mavericks, as I work in Logic the problem is Logic Pro X doesn’t see 6 cores after I insalled Mavericks many months ago… So I want to try Yosemite. Maybe I didn’t added some kexts there.

    My config:
    Intel 4930k
    Asus x79 Deluxe
    Nvidia GTX 780
    Motu 828mk 3 Hybrid – ( usb audio interface)

          2. Did not enter the Boot Flags properly.

Do I need to find some kext or it’s because of my Asus x 79 deluxe?

    2. After the Initial Installation the System will Restart.
    3. Boot into the Clover Installer Usb Drive and Boot into the Installer again.
    4. Once booted the Installer will automatically run and install Mac OS X.

But when it finish the installation, it doesn’t restar well:
    1-Screen goes black
2-PC doesn’t POST so it doesn’t actually restar
3-it stucks on black screen and if i press any key, it appears a bold dash in the top left corner of the screen, and any key i press displays symbols on screens.
4-I tired to write boot flags in this screen without success.
5-If i manually restart the system, and boot into Installer, it doesn’t continue the installation.
5-It makes me start a new Installation.

What could be the problem? I followed all your steps, could be the Graphics kext? Or i only need to wait until the blackscreen automatically go away and restart the system? Thank you!

I use the boot args ” -v -f npci=0x2000 cpus=1 kext-dev-mode=1 nv_disable=1″ what happenes is it loads the verbose screen loads nothing too out of the ordenery then it gets to a line like GeForse sensor: waiting for accelerator to start couple of seconds like maybe 45-60 this message repeats like 4-5 times then there is a crossed out circle and the screen lines become unreadeble the letters are distorted and thats it. I am thinking its the video card issue because its not quite like the KP i have gotten thouse too trying to use the modifyed PM kext in the instaler, so its not KP but it looks like everything loads just before it gets to the welcome screen the video card throws some thing off. any one experiance this? and andrew how did you get your 780 to work?

  103. 1. Problem with part 8 Booting. After following all steps to preparing the flash, installing clover, copying Kexts and running the command file and disabling setting in Bios and secure boot option change, I restart with flash in and clover boot menu opens up.
I only see two options there. 1. boot windows from… and another boot windows from reserve.. I dont see anywhere to boot from the flash?

    2. When i ran the clover command file, terminal opened up, asked me for a password, typed it in, and after i pressed enter, it did something fast and vanished.. i didnt see any copy files status…

    3. I also have a problem understanding what i should do with the mavericks 10.9 5.32 gb install dmg, so i merely copied it to the root folder of the clover flash drive. (you dont mention what to do with the downloaded osx in the first step.) – yes this might be a stupid question. Sorry for the pain.

    4. Also, since i dont have a Mac, to do these basic tasks, i installed a mac osx version in Virtualbox which im using to format the flash, install clover, after which, it automatically mounted EFI, after which i copied the generic kexts into 10.9

Thanks again. Basically ive gotten to the clover boot screen when i leave the flash in..

        • There is no DMG from the App Store.

        • Ok, well is that why the clover command file doesnt know what to write to the flash?
As i explained your Mavericks link from the appstore is no longer available. I think they removed it. This is what i have:
          X99 Deluxe Asus
          i7-5820k processor
          GTX 970 evga

So i thought installing Mavericks might result in a more stable system than yosemite. so when i looked for mavericks in the appstore with your link it was not available.

Is there anyway i can extract the contents of the mavericks DMG or would you recoommend i just download the Yosemite. does it result in a stable build> is there anything not working.

New to all of this so just trying to make it as simple as possible, hence i wanted to try mavericks rather than yosemite. Your adivse is very welcome and i really appreciate your help so far.

        • There is no x99 DMG for 10.9… its just x99 DMG. Please review.

  104. Hello, thanks for a great guide and DMG. I’m having a slight problem upon first restart. My system:

    Asus X-99 Deluxe (BIOS 1305)
    5960x CPU
    GTX 980
    32gb (8x 4gb) DDDR 3000mhz
    Yosemite 10.10.2

I followed the guide as per your recommendation for X99:

    1. Installed OSX on an external USB3 device using a Macbook Pro.
    2. Setup a Clover USB stick using instructions in the X99 DMG, using the SSDT and ALL the Kexts.
    3. Edited VoodooTSCSync so that IOCPUNumber=15
    4. Pasted the supplied Kernel from the DMG (using the 10.10.1 Kernel because there was no 10.10.2)
    5. Deleted the Kernelcache in Startup on the HD.
    6. Used your Clover Config file and didn’t edit it in anyway. (flags are npci=0x3000 nv_disable=1 acpi=off nvidia=false)
    7. Followed your BIOS recommendations regarding CSM and ‘OtherOS’ option.

Booted from the Clover USB and then booted OSX from the external USB3 drive on the hack box. It booted first time into OSX no worries.

I clicked about a bit, changed some desktop view options – including the name of the computer in Sys Pref> Sharing. Thats about it.

I didn’t install the Nvidia web drivers yet..

When I rebooted I got a consistent KP.
    panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff000041e88a)

Do I still need to patch the Kernel somehow? Did I miss a step?

I’ve tried removing kexts, editing the config, changing flags as well as some of the other known fiddles such as the various incarnations of the AptioFix file but nothing changes.

I have a picture of the KP I could send you for more info..

If you could suggest any tips or help that would be fantastic!

    • Please re do the install and this time follow my set instructions. Your editing files that SHOULD NOT BE CHANGED. If I do not tell you to do something please do not change them.

Also do not use the Modded Kernels as Clover now support native patching and is in the Clover Config list.

      • Hey Andrew, thanks for your reply!
I will try again. So just to confirm, I will not edit the VoodooTSCSync this time. And when you say do not use the Modded Kernels, do you mean just skip the step where I pasted the supplied Kernel from the DMG? Thanks for your help, really appreciate your assistance with this.

        Reply
        • Forget editing that kexts. If I don’t tell you to do a step do not do it.

Skip that step for the kernel. That step was left in to make sure the edit worked for my test users with Clover. That part will be removed from the DMG later on.

  105. Great, thanks for clarifying. Thanks for your swift responses, really appreciated – I’ll give it a go and let you know. B

    • Hi Andrew,

So I gave it another go (I didn’t patch the Kernel and I didn’t edit VoodooTSCSync kext) and managed to boot consistently into OS X and it worked even on multiple restarts using flags: npci=0x3000 nv_disable=1 acpi=off nvidia=false. So thank you for your help!

I then installed web drivers and my flags are now: npci=0x3000 nvda_drv=1 acpi=off nvidia=false.

Now I’m getting stuck at ‘OsxAptioFixDrv: Error – requested memory exceeds our allocated relocation block’

I’ve tried OsxAptioFix2Drv.efi, and also another one I found online called OsxAptioFixDrv-X99.efi which gave slightly different errors but never got into the proper verbose mode.

I’ve tried also without nvidia=false but still the same.

If you have any suggestions it would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time,

      Ben

I can find reference to removing the kernel cache but am unable to find clear instructions (including elsewhere on the web) about how exactly to remove anything else. I believe it is ‘rebuilding kext cache’ you’re referring to. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?

          Thanks so much,

          Ben

        • npci=0x3000 is useless as that flag has not been in the kext it is for for 3 os versions as I had said before. Please only use the flag provided in the x99 DMG Clover Config File. Else you can and will have issues. Only saying this so you don’t use the wrong flags.

nvda_drv=1 can be added to the DMG’s file.

Remove the Cache file in the location listed on the x99 support page.

        • Hi Andrew,

So I have followed your instructions on the boot flags and am now just using npci=0x2000 nvda_drv=1 kext-dev-mode=1.

I also removed the kernel cache as instructed on the X99 support page but I still get the same ‘OsxAptioFixDrv: Error – requested memory exceeds our allocated relocation block’

Any other suggestions? This is pretty much the brick wall right now :)

          Thanks,

          Ben

        • Welcome to early support. Nothing else you can do.

        • Hello fellow builders, my system is:

          Asus X-99 Deluxe (BIOS 1305)
          5960x CPU
          GTX 980
          32gb (8x 4gb) DDDR 3000mhz
          Yosemite 10.10.2

Did anyone with a similar spec manage to get this working with Nvidia web drivers yet?

          Cheers,

          Ben

        • Thats awesome news Andrew!
What did you do to get past the ‘OsxAptioFixDrv: Error – requested memory exceeds our allocated relocation block’ problem that seems to occur only after the installation of the web drivers? I have read somewhere that it may be because there are too many kexts in use. Is that possible? Would doing a reinstall and leaving out, say the bluetooth kexts help? Or was there another way you managed to fix it? Is this what you describe as a ‘memmap issue’ ? Are there any ways to force it to use memory that does not exceed the allocated relocation block? Thanks

        • Try updating to the latest BIOS.

Don’t know how you do it dude but well done and thank you. Big respect for being the Mackintosh Yoda.
I installed the latest BIOS for my mobo and it works a charm.
        No more mem map problems.
The only problem is hanging on Bluetooth Kexts so I removed them and now not a problem.
        Donating now.
Thanks again mate, keep up the good work :)

I installed Yosemite on my Z97x-ud5h BK 1.1 following the install method. I am using a GTX970 GPU which requires the nv_disable=1 flag… After completing the post-install, do I still need to use this flag?

Another question regarding post install – I followed your instructions, then after completing the post install – restarted the machine and upon logging into Mac Os (entering password) the busy wheel continues indefinite and I never get to the desktop.

Next problem the black screen wt apple logo has no progress bar, reads the flash, and then the apple turns into a cancel / no go sign like this..

Just an update! after my whole friday and saturday night slaving away, i finally installed and booted into yosemite.!! Wouldnt have made it without your help, so i thank you. Just a few issues.
1, The system is extremely sluggish, im guessing because of the display driver.
        2. I installed the web drivers and rebooted with the flag u asked us to boot with but it refuses to boot with that flag. And it never keeps the USE nvidia driver setting either.
        3. in the config.plist in the graphics key section is see intel is true… is that a problem…
        4. its a GTX 970 from EVGA.
        5. I did all the X99 DMG post installs. ALso replaced the kernel for 10.10. (but the yosemite installed is 10.20? is that still fine?
        6. Initially i had WIndows 8.1 installed to a sep SSD. I could boot to it from my Clover usb… now after installing OSX.. no chance of booting to windows 8.1 anymore, even if i try boot to it directly from Bios… Corrupted?
        7. How do i post an IOREG so u can see why system is sluggish?

        Thanks again!! so close!!!

          3. No. Has no effect. Do not edit the config other then adding the flag for the retail drivers.

          5. Don’t use the old kernel. The clover config has the patch for it so no need for it with 10.10.2 and onwards.

          6. No idea what you did to windows.

  122. Hi Andrew,

    I have the following setup:

    Asus X99 Deluxe
    I7 5820K
    EVGA GTX 760

Trying to install Yosemite 10.10.2 onto an X99 system. I used Clover v2.3k r3185 and I’m using a MacBook Pro to create the USB drive. In Clover I checked “Install for UEFI booting only”, “Install Clover in the ESP”, “EmuVariableUefi-64” and “OsxAptioFixDrv-64”.

I downloaded the X99 DMG, copied and pasted Config.plist into /EFI/CLOVER/ and AppleGB, AppleIntelE1000e, FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement and VoodooTSCSync.kext into /EFI/CLOVER/kexts. I disabled CMS and changed to Other OS in the Bios; basically following this guide to: Part 8: Booting, subsection 3.

I’m able to get to the Clover Boot Manager, I hit enter and get the Apple logo and a progress bar, which does not move at all.

I believe I’ve followed it correctly but maybe not. Would you mind pointing out what I missed or did wrong.

    Thank you,

    Sophie

after just struggling through this myself, the part you’re going wrong is the x99 dmg. x99 dmg used for POST install.
so copy the generic booting kexts into the 10.10 folder, part 6 point 12, link in the sentence below that :) and the config plist from part 6 point number 2 :)

    i7 3820 (SOCKET 2011)
MSI GEFORE 660 OC (VBIOS FLASHED TO SUPPORT EFI)
    SAMSUNG EVO850 SSD

With your help I got my system running Mountain Lion a couple of years ago – with minor problems, the main one being I can’t get my account authorised on my Hackintosh to download OSX updates.
I can get Yosemite running well using the old method, with the same issues. I wanted to try a Clover install to see if it would bring my system closer to operation of a real Mac (and unlock iMessage etc). It is OSX10.10.1 I have.

I’ve followed the method listed here twice and I think I’ve done it to the letter, but it will not boot from the EFI partition. I can only boot into OSX if the USB stick is inserted. If the stick is missing, my boot takes me straight to BIOS.

CSM is disabled in my BIOS. Secure Boot only allows me either to enable or disable Secure Booting, I can’t select an OS.

I’ve tried making disk0s1 the active partition via Terminal, my best guess is the bootloader is not on the EFI partition but when it comes to these things, my best guess doesn’t count for much.

Can you please advise? Very probably I’ve missed something obvious.

          and choose that boot option

        • Thanks Phan, I’ll have a look at that.

First install I was having problems with rebooting that I couldn’t troubleshoot. However, reformatted drive and carried out a fresh install as per this page – works like a dream. Fantastic!
Only thing I haven’t done is install the mobo SSDT. In your guide it says to replace the existing SSDT with the one in the Has well DMG, but as far as I can see there isn’t one to replace?

          Scott

        • Use the one on the DMG.

      • Hi Andrew

        I built a new Hack, GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5, Nvidia GT 740, i7 4790k.

It runs great. Onboard audio works, access to App Store everything really.

However, often on boot, it restarts after about 7 seconds. If I leave it at the login page, the cursor flashes 7 times, then the system reboots. This happens a lot. However if the system allows me past that 7 second mark, it is very robust with no crashes.

I’ve tried getting reports from Console, but (unless I’m looking in the wrong place) there only seems to be reports for successful boots. It’s like the reboots simply didn’t happen.

Any ideas how I can find the source of the problem?

        Best Regards

I followed this guide and used the Haswell DMG to do a new build. I have successfully installed Mac OS 10.10.2, patched sound, and confirmed that everything is working as it is expected to. However, I have a really annoying issue where both my GTX 780’s ramp up to 100% fan speed within the first minute after boot.

I have TWO gtx 780’s, both exhibit the same issue when on web drivers. The issue goes away on Default OS X drivers, however this system was built for the purpose of running DaVinci Resolve, which will not see the cards without the web driver.

The Two models I have are: ASUS GTX 780 OC Edition (3GB). EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked Edition (6GB).

On a previous install using clover, 10.10.1, and the previous web drivers, these cards did not exhibit this behavior, but I ran into the AptioFixDrv error on reboot with that build and decided to start fresh, bought a new SSD rebuilt from ground up.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I copied kexts from your current DMG to the EFI patriton on the hard drive with no issues. I had Ethernet working, along with my FireWire 800 card and my Intensity Pro capture card. Onboard audio didn’t work but the Intensity card output usable audio.

However installing the SSDT and SSDT-1 files cause boot issues on my hard drive. Once I removed from the /patched folder, I could boot again from the hard drive. after a bit of reading forums, I tried holding down on f4 when booting which caused my HD to now not boot at all. • Good stuff. You need to install nvidia web drivers to get the 980 working full speed. andrew has done a guide on here about how to do that and what boot flags to change after you install. If you have probs after installing drivers then put the emu variable file back. You’re close bro! B

        • Again. Your saying you are doing something and not doing it. Your statements and questions do not match what you told us and I can see right thru this. I even made a post about this last week:

“Also many questions that are being asked are already addressed and clarified in various guides. Many of these questions are in the accicuated guide. That said, we will not answer or assist those users who will not read in full a guide or article. We have no issues in answering questions but we will not spend time on these questions. We can tell who those users and posts are and we will push you to read in full the guide or article. I wish I did not have to address this but this needed to happen. All we ask is for you to read the in full the guide or article and to follow them as well before posting a question. 90% of the work of making a fully functioning Hackintosh is reading.”

Please do post install as you are not not doing so. IE self created issues. So please don’t lie to us or we will not help you.

  142. It’s all on Andrew dude, he’s the genius and he helped me loads so just trying to help back anyone with similar specs to mine.

    1. It will always say OS X default drivers for reasons I do not know. But if you check in ‘about this mac’ and it lists your 980 and full 4gb vram and you can utilise your monitors full res and refresh then you’re in business.

    2. Gtx 980 doesn’t Rev to full 100% fan speed as far as I’m aware. From what I heard that was the 780. Mine 980 revs up when needed and 4k rendering etc is all good. I Might be wrong though!?

    3. I didn’t have any luck with the audio patch either unfortunately but Installing the voodoohda.kext makes it work but was a bit noisey so I just bought a soundblaster omni 5.1 usb sound card which is great and works natively in OS X and win8.1 without the need to install anything.

If you need Bluetooth you can pick up a single for £10 that works a treat too.

If your happy with the help you got from Andrew I would definitely advocate a donation to his website.

    Good luck bro!

  143. Andrew, I really do appreciate your work. But I want to clarify one thing, I didnt lie. I did follow the steps as much as possible. And the main reason why I couldn’t boot into the OS was because I needed to remove emuvariableuefi.efi and this came to sense cause Ben pointed that out. Not everyone here is an expert in making a hackintosh like yourself. So please don’t accuse everyone who can’t get their system to work a liar. Even though you have insulted me but because of the work that you put into this site I will still donate.

  144. Hi,
    I decided to build a X99 hackintosh.

    I’ve got some questions:

    1. Is the combo of Xeon E5 v3 + Asus X99-A supported by your guide.
    2. What’s the most up-to-date and working out-of-box (including HDMI, DP audio) graphic card?
    3. Is M.2 PCI-E SSD supported by OSX?

    Thanks!

None. There is no such card. All requires patching. You need to understand how GPU Audio works. Please review.

  146. Installing a 4790k / Gigabyte GA-Z79X-UD7 TH system… followed the guide, got the install working ok, but the ‘part 11. post install’ section isn’t clear. It ends on rebooting the system. I know that I now need to use the DMG for my system (Haswell DMG), but I’m kind of guessing as to how I use the DMG. Here’s what I’ve done:

    – Step 1: installed clover on my hackintosh hard drive, using the install settings specified on the DMG, and copied the config.plist file into the Clover folder on the EFI partition.

    – Step 2: Wasn’t sure if the kexts were supposed to go into the clover/kexts folder on the EFI partition, or whether I was supposed to install them with the kext helper app on the DMG… did both.

    – Step 3: Found the folder for my mother board and grabbed the AMD SSDT (I’ll be using a 7970k as a GFX processing card). Copied the SSDT into EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched folder

Step 4: At this point everything worked except audio… Wasn’t entirely sure what to do with the files in the audio_RealtekALC-master folder downloaded from the link in step 4 … went through the Read Me and ran audio_realtekALC-100.command. Still no audio…

Have I done this right?? Any tips on getting audio working?

  147. Hey Andrew,
I’ve been struggeling installing Yosemite on my Hackintosh (with a GA-H87N-Wifi) for two weeks now. Yesterday I found your guide which took me a bit further … but the result was a white screen with the spinning beach ball.
As I wasn’t able to find out which config-file would fit my system I took the config.plist from the X99 folder. The next problem was that in my UEFI Dual Bios there is nothing that says “CSM” and what can be disabled. Booting the computer takes me to a blue screen with seven icons where I can choose between “Boot Mac OS X from …”, “Start UEFI Shell 64”, “Clover Boot Options”, “Options”, “About Clover”, “Restart Computer” and “Exit Clover”. Where do I have to write the needed boot flags into? Choosing “Boot Mac OS X from …” takes me to a black screen with a progress bar followed by the white screen mentioned above.

It would be phantastic if you could please help me solving this puzzle.

      • Hey Andrew,
        thank for for your answer!
I did some research and found out that my Gigabyte GA-H87N-Wifi needs Haswell. So I started a new attempt and made a new installation stick. Unfortunately got stuck at the same place when I tried to boot. I assume it has something to do with the settings in my UEFI Dual Bios. Part 7 of your installation guide says that I have to disable CSM, but I still can’t find that option in that UEFI Dual Bios. Booting with F12 takes me to a list with boot devices. Choosing “Clover start boot.efi …” takes me to that blue screen I mentioned above. Choosing “ UEFI: JetFlashTranscend 8GB” also takes me to that blue screen.
What am I doing wrong? I am pretty desperate …

        • Remake the USB installer as the USB was not made properly.

        • Hey Andrew,
I’m glad that I finally made it. Yosemite is booting and running … but only if the USB stick is attached.
I read in several forums that I have to mount the EFI partition and copy some certain files to the EFI folder on my HDD. The problem is, that my USB only contains the installer app. Furthermore I can’t see any EFI folder on my system drive …

It would be great if you please could help me once more.

  148. Hi Andrew,

I have a question about Step 6. I’m currently making the USB installer for Yosimite, and I have a question about the kext section of it. For this step it says use Kext Helper B7, drag the kexts into the app, and allow it to easy install. My question is: what exactly does this do? It does not allow me to select which drive I want it to target, so is it installing the kexts to my /system/ folder, or the one on the USB? Or do the kexts automatically install themselves on the EFI boot drive?

I’m a bit unsure of this step because the kexts in the DMG and the link in Step 6 are different.

Just trying to understand more, so that I can learn. Thanks for writing the whole guide, I’m using it because of the px79 pro support. Excited to get it working!

You’re absolutely right, I mixed up steps and didn’t realize that x79.dmg was only for post-install. I got clover boot EFI installer to start properly now. However, now I’m stuck at Missing Bluetooth Controller Transport. I’ve read that this isn’t a bluetooth error, but a graphics problem. I’ve tried nv_disable=1, but I can’t seem to get past that step. Only other thing I did before getting to this problem is changing out the HFSPlus.efi to get it to quit insta-rebooting.

        System:

  149. Hi,

I’m trying to install Windows virtual machine using Parallels Desktop 10 on an X99 system but without success. Has anyone else experienced the same or know of a fix?

My system setup is as follows:

    Asus X99 Deluxe (latest bios)
    Intel i7-5820K
    Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB 2666
    EVGA GTX 760 4GB
    256 Samsung 850 Pro
    Corsair AX860 860W

I am able to install Parallels but not a virtual machine. When I try to either install Windows 7 or 8.1 or boot an existing Windows VM (created on another Hackintosh, which runs just fine may I add) I can neither get Windows to install because it runs so slow; no errors or crashes, just extremely slow that it would take forever to install. When I try to launch the Windows VM that was created on my other hack (i7-4771 Haswell / Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD7 TH, I can’t even get it to load, it would just take too long. I ended up quitting parallels about 45 minutes after waiting for Windows to boot, at which point the Windows boot screen was still intermittently moving at a painfully slow pace.

I’ve also tried installing Windows under VMware Fusion, but got the same issue.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  155. Thank you so much for this comprehensive guide Andrew. It has made it so that i have my new X99 hack up and running on 10.10.3 in no time. But I have a serious problem that I can’t find much information about on any hackintosh website/forum actually. First some information:

    Setup:
    Gigabyte X99-UD4
    Intel 5820K
    Gigabyte R9 280X
    16GB Crucial Ballistix 2400Mhz
    1TB Samsung SSD drive
    5TB WD drive

    Installation:
I have installed and reinstalled four times now. Either by following your guide exactly, or by installing Yosemite native on the SSD with SATA to USB controller and through my Macbook Retina, then post install Clover, patching the kernel manually and so on. Everytime I come up with the same result:
Yosemite works fine and boot properly.
Ethernet is working with proper kext
Audio is not working (I have tried step 4 numerous times, but just cant seem to get it working properly. It shows up in system pref. but no sound.
Anyway my REAL problem is this:
After som time of use (can happen upon login aswell) the machine freezes completely. With that I mean everything freezes except the mouse which shows the rainbow wheel. There is no way of getting it to respond again except manually powering off. I experienced a similar problem on my Retina 15″, but just not as frequently. Do you have any suggestions on how I might fix this? Is this not a hack related problem since I know of similar issues with native Apple computers.
It is often related to safari use or for example opening a stack of files on the dock.

Hope you can help me. I would appreciate it alot!!
    Kind regards
    Kris

      • Hi again Andrew.
Thank you for directions, but it’s not fixing the problem. I clean installed it once more, were realy focused on getting all the details, and follow every step both in the installation guide and in the X99.dmg guide, but no it is still happening. I can actually trigger the error by clicking the download stack on the dock 6-8 times and the system freezes. Do you have any other idea?

To sum it up in short:
        – Creating the USB boot installer (format, install clover, run script, copy config + kexts, replace VBoxHFS)
        – Set BIOS settings
        – Install Yosemite (bootflags, format, install)
        – Post install:
        1. Install Clover (correct settings)
        2. Replace config on EFI partition with the one on x99.dmg
        3. Open Kext Helper (add AppleIGB, AppleIntelE1000e, FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerMangement, VoodooTSCSync, GenericUSBXHCI) – also tried with and without Asus bluetooth kexts. Password, easy install
        4. Copy SSDT (UD4 / AMD) to ACPI/Patched
        5. Remove install USB
        6. Restart
        7. Patch audio with audio_alc_x99-hda-100_patch.command
        8. Restart
        9. Delete KernelCache
        10. Restart

Am I missing something? Cause I can trigger this freeze like clockwork. 6-8 click on a stack on the dock and the system freezes completely only able to move cursor with spinning rainbow. Power down computer is the only solution.

I ran Apple Service Toolkit Storage Diagnostic on my SSD to check if I had bought a faulty drive. It actually failed, but I read online that this could happen with some types of SSD’s like my Samsung EVO without anything being wrong. The error AST displayed was “SMART attribute to check not matched.”

Thank you for all your help! Hope you have some insight in what im doing wrong here. I hope I have overlooked a simple step in the installation process, but I don’t know.

        Kind regards
        Kris

        • Did you redownload the Mac app and try that?

        • I’m currently preparing a new USB installer with a fresh downloaded Yosemite installer that I will try, thanks for the tips. While it is working I read through your documentation on X99 and AMD once more and I read in the AMD Graphics Guide:

          “Part 3C: Clover Bootloader Injection
          1. Using Clover Bootloader, the following Boot Flag must be used to enable Full Graphic Acceleration under Mac OS X:

          ATI=True
          FBName=Framebuffer (Not Required)”

I have not been using ATI=True as a boot flag. Should I be using that? If that is the case It seems possible to me that my freezing could be related to graphics since as it freezes artefacts sometimes appear on the screen.

          Thank you!
          -Kristoffer

        • Not needed with that GPU. If you want a FB you can but you don’t need to mod anything on the installer.

      • Nevermind. I tried ATI=True as boot flag, but it didn’t do anything with the problem. Reinstalling 10.10.3 with new installer file as I write this. Hoping it will do the trick.

        Reply
        • Don’t mod anything with my files. Not needed to mod with your GPU.

        • Ok thanks. Same happened again after fresh install of OS X 10.10.3 (new installer, followed your guides exactly, no modding no nothing else than just what it says in the install guide and x99.dmg documentation. It seemed to work fine. I used it for a while and could use safari and clicked on a stack in the dock 20-30 times without any problem. Then I opened Spotlight and everything froze. Can I send any form for log from the console or anything else to help debugging?
          Thanks

        • Make a video and send the log.

        • Sent you an email with log and video.

Can we now say that Installing Yosemite on an Asus Deluxe X99 system w/ GTX 970 graphics. does not work with the Clover method. Because after we install Nvidia web drivers the system after a reboot, the system does not boot because of the mem map error. And as u mentioned, Slice is apparently working on this clover fix. Would it not be wise then to rather edit the x99 guide to mention the cover legacy install method that works. Or if i am mistaken is the mem map an isolated issue.
However i have a pretty standard install :

I had to install Clover on my main drive, exactly the same as I did for the Installer, including the config files and kexts. I used Clover Configurator, to access the EFI partition, and made the changes on the system drive, I also had to set the Bios Boot options to boot from the UEFI – drive, (my Bios showed Uefi and plain partitions) once I installed clover.
I ended up removing the USB to make sure I had the Right EFI partition while loading config.plist and the Kexts.

      • Did you double triple check that the Bios is using the UEFI clover partition as the primary boot device?

also it might be the video card, if your system looks like it’s booting but just cycles or holds on a black screen, I ended up adding a step in the build process to remove all the NDA*.kext file on initial build. Once I did that I could get the system to boot, than just had to play around with the nvidia web drivers and Cuda to boot.

what I did was added boot flag “-s” at the command line

        (Removed)

once that was done. machine booted with terrible graphics but I was able to get drivers loaded.

        Reply
        • That is not needed. Do not mod system kexts. If you read the Install Guide there is a boot flag that covers this.

        • I tried all of the boot flags listed in the guide nv_disable=1 didn’t work with or without -v and with or without GraphicsEnabler=No

Although I do freely admit I’m very new to this stuff I suppose I typed at some point, Please list the prefered flag to avoid deleting the Kext files, as I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing this build again before long, I’d like to know.

        • As stated before. Use the proper boot flag.

2x Eizo ColorEdge CG241W (not sure I’ll be using these, as they are only 1920 x 1080. I may just stick to the new LG’s I’ve ordered.

The main use for this build will be: Lightroom, Photoshop and at a distant second, Final Cut.

Is it true I should go with a Radeon GPU over an nVidia due to the nVidia being slow for Final Cut? What’s better for Lightroom and Photoshop? I’m also looking for something which will work out of the box and that will work well with at least two 4k monitors and possibly one or two 1920 x 1080 monitors.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    • Buy a Nvidia GPU as support for the latest AMD cards is not the best at this time for Mac or for Wkndows for that matter (last non beta driver for windows from AMD was in December).

What nVidia card would you recommend that will run at least two 4K monitors and be fully supported? Meaning, I don’t have to do anything, just plug and play or as close to plug and play as possible.

    Thanks again for your help.

  176. Hi Andrew,

I’ve just installed a GTX 970 and just wanted to run it by you, just in case I missed something.

After using your guide to install OS X (Thank you very much for all the time and effort you’ve put into it). I did the following:

    1. Installed the GTX 970 into the system and connected a monitor to it. (I still had a second monitor connected to the on-board graphics). In the bios, the “Initial Display Output” is still set to internal graphics – IGFX.

    2. I booted into OS X, downloaded and installed the web drivers: WebDriver-346.01.02f04.

    3. Rebooted, went into the bios and disabled the internal graphics card and used boot flag nvda_drv=1

    4. After booting up into OS X, I selected NVIDIA Web Driver as opposed to OS X Default Graphics Driver.

Everything seems to be showing up fine in About This Mac -Graphics.

Is there anything else I need to do, for example not having to keep putting in the boot flag?

    Thank you!

I have successfully installed 2 systems (and of course donated 5% of system) but my third system is giving me problems

    File: File: audio_realtekALC-100.command_v1.0.4c
    Verify kext-dev-mode=1 boot flag/argument
    Password:
    Confirm Realtek ALC892 (y/n): y
    Enable HD4600 HDMI audio (y/n): y
Audio ID: 0 is not supported, continue (y/n):

I had some similar problem with the same MOBO before, which you solved with a new SSDT.

It was because of a BIOS update to F11.

    System:
    GA-Z87M-D3H
    i-5 4460
    GTX 650 Ti Boost
NorthQ PSU (2.2 could this be the problem? I would think only sleep would be)
8 GB Corsair RAM from the other system

I am using all the new Clover and Haswell.DMG. Have tried with both 1.1 and legacy 1.0 SSDT (I got “no codec detected” both times – though after changing back to 1.1 SSDT I got this new message above)

hope you can help – and thank you for all the work

  184. I followed your directions, but once I finished running the Clover install to the USB named Clover, the EFI partition dis-mounted. This contained the files from the previously mentioned Clover install. I ran the 10.10 command script and it completed without issue. However once I re-mounted the EFI partition, none of the files are listed anymore and I cannot start Part 6. Should I just re-install Clover to the EFI partition?

    Reply
    • I think I see the problem. Step 5 needs to come before Step 4. You are essentially telling me to install Clover to a partition then with Step 5 the command deletes my entire USB and only installs the Yosemite App leaving my Clover files deleted.

      Reply
      • No. Not even close. The USB is not wiped at all nor are any of the sub partitions touched. Apples USB creator simply restores the App to the Clover Partition. You would need to understand partition layouts. This is why Cloning software is useless.

Sometimes on the end user system (your system) the Clover files become hidden on the EFI partition. If you simply run the installer on it again you will see that the check box show up again. Please follow the guide as stated.

    Asus Sabertooth z97 MK2
    I7 4790K
    32GB Ram
    250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
    Galax Nvidia GTX980 SOC
    Philips BDM4065 4K Monitor.

Install went fine and with CSM off in bios install booted at 4K. I installed Clover on SSD along with config.plist, kexts and Nvidia SSDT for my motherboard from your Haswell.DMG. Downloaded and installed Nvida web drivers Version 346.0102f04.

I have added -v nvda_drv=1 to Clover config.plist but it reboots when login screen should load. I can boot with -x and the GTX980 is correctly reported in “about this mac” and “system overview” I get full res 4K display but the Nvidia panel in system preferences won’t load, I guess due to safe boot. Also boots fine with nv_disable but low res.

Also Audio patch on Haswell.DMG returns “no codec found” also due to safe boot I assume ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

As for the audio you missed a step in the DMG.

Here is what you need to do. Slow down. Read each step. Don’t skim. If there is extra documentation in a folder, make sure to read the documentation.

          3. Yes, 1 DSDT that is ONLY patched for the IRQ’s and 20 SSDT’s technically speaking. IRQ requirements changed under 10.10 thus users who never had this issue before now have this issue.

  200. 1. I’ve send you by mail an error log making the SSDT-1. “board-id [Mac-F221BEC8] not supported by Ivy Bridge – check SMBIOS data / use the -c option”

    Intel 4600
    Yosemite 10.10.4

I had a Multibeast instalation, but the sleep/wake/shutdown wasn’t working after many tries.
So i tried your guide and it worked flawlessly expect for the audio. I was trying to fix it but i screwed something up and the instalation didn’t boot anymore.
So i cleaned up the SSD, and tried a new instalation (was going to make a image backup) before doing the post instalation.
The weird problem starts now, first instalation apparently is ok, it reboots and the second part is the same as the first.
It seems it doesn’t complete the first one 100%.

I didn’t tried yet to do the spacebar and “boot without caches” in the clover bootloader, don’t know if it will help.
I’m almost giving up, and going for the legacy instalation and then swap for the uefi one.

    2. reboot into that version of Yosemite;
    3. do the post-install DMG work;
    4. power the machine off and install the drive into my Hackintosh;
    5. continue on with the guide

    , correct? Thanks in advance.

    • Nope. You do not have a 8 core so you can install by following this guide. :) Enjoy.

      • Cool, good to know. I wasn’t having much luck with the guide — I couldn’t get the system to boot far enough to run the install, so I just punted and — given a functioning X99 machine, and my Mac Mini — did the following:

        0. Updated the ASUS BIOS to the latest version (18mumble);
        1. Installed my target SSD into a Thunderbolt enclosure;
        2. installed vanilla Yosemite 10.10.5 onto the disk;
        3. mounted the EFI partition from the SSD, and performed Steps 1-3 from the X99 DMG guide;
        4. invoked the magic perl s// command on /Volumes/SSD/System/Library/Kernels/kernel
        5. removed the SSD from the Thunderbolt enclosure and installed it into the Hackintosh;
        6. booted up, selected the SSD from the ASUS boot menu, and then set boot flags in Clover, which got me to
        7. a Yosemite install, in safe mode, on my Hackintosh!

I was then able to install the nVidia web drivers, modify the clover plist to add “nvda_drv=1”, and restore my system from a Time Machine backup.

What’s working with no other hacking: WiFi, USB 3.0, USB audio. What isn’t: Bluetooth, and, weirdly, the video drivers keep getting set back to “OS X Default Graphics Driver”. Tomorrow I’ll run some CUDA codes to see if the video cards are being recognized, but overall, this was really, really seamless.

Kudos to Andrew and all at Rampage Dev who made this so easy.

  219. thanks for the detail steps.
unfortunatelly, I failed to install it successfully, stuck with “Legacy usb off done” and reboot~~~
    My computer info:
    – Intel DX79SI board with i7-3960x 16G memory
    – Intel 520 SSD, plus Hard disks
    – Windows 7 ultimate 64bit

If anyone can kindly assist, I’ll provide more details soon :) thanks~

      • Hi Andrew, I finally followed every steps and installed the Yosemite 10.10.5 to my computer, I removed the HD containts Windows system and used an empty SSD to install it.
To make others can take as reference, put some details here:
        Computer info: Intel DX79SI board with Intel82574L & Intel82579LM NIC, NVIDIA GeForce GT630, Intel 240G SSD, i7 3960x, 16G mem
        Clover boot flags: -f -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 kext_dev_mode=1 nv_disable=1
        Status quo:
        – still need to boot into Yosemite with the USB disk, with boot flags: -f -v cpus=1 npci=0x2000 kext_dev_mode=1 nv_disable=1
        – Intel82574L still not OK, so that all the post install steps in X79.dmg can’t be executed yet.
        – did something wrong maybe, can’t login to Yosemite, need re-install perhaps
        ——-
        Next steps:
        – I’ll reinstall the system again
        – make the Intel82574L driver OK.
        – do the steps in X79.dmg and try to make UEFI boot ok, GeForce GT630 and audio card OK.
Hope that I can make it~~~
        thanks again!

        • GT 630 needs Nvidia inject to equal true.

        • (Intel DX79SI, NVIDIA GT630,i7-3960x)
finally got Yosemite up & running, with the following changes in config.plist:
          1. didn’t apply the DSDT.aml in DX79.dmg step3, just left \EFI\CLOVER\ACPI\patched folder empty
          2. used Clover Config tool to modify the config.plist
ACPI part: FixHDA, FixUSB, FixSATA, NewWay, FIX_RTC, FIX_TMR, AddIMEI, FIX_INTELGFX, DeleteUnused, Patch APIC, Halt Enabler
          3. boot part (boot parameters)
          -v -cpus=1 npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1
          4. Graphics part for NVdia GT630
Load VBios, Inject EDID, Inject NVidia, Nvidiageneric
also, put customer EDID for my monitor
          5. Kernel and Kext Patches part
Kernel CPU, Kernel LAPIC, KernelPm, Apple RTC, Asus AICPUPM
(the Asus AICPUPM may should not apply; also I didn’t apply KernelHaswellIE because my cpu is SandyBridge cpus)
          6. SMBIOS use MacPro5,1
          7. System Parameters part
          Inject System ID
besides all the configuration above, I also used xxxxxx to apply the following drivers:
          a. for Audio part: ALC892 sound card, installed VoodooHDA v2.9.7 instead (the ALC892 driver not worked well)
For NVidia GT630, I found the drivers from internet.
Now it works!~~~~ (sometimes unstable, after logged in, the screen will become ‘white screen’ or stuck on other color screen)

          Thanks a lot~

        • Hi Andrew, one question regarding the cpus=1, does it mean only one core of the cpu will up and running? thanks~

        • Yes. This is only for installation.

    -v kext-dev-mode=1 GraphicsEnabler=No cpus=1 npci=0x2000 PCIRootUID=1 nvda_drv=1

    Any ideas?

I have had OS X installed before, but unfortunately I do not remember how i did it.

    • Failed to use the flags listed in the Guide. Please follow the guide as shown and not what you find on Google. The flags listed here can and will work for your configuration and i can not state this enough that failure to do so will result in failure to get anywhere in the install process.

      • Fixed that by disabling Bluetooth in BIOS (not needed anyways) + apparently the motherboard does not save CSM settings, had to re-do them every time i boot.

In any case, sorry for my ignorance the first time. I was pretty salty about not being able to boot for 4 days, tried a ton of methods, but your’s ended up working flawlessly.

        Got 10.10.5 running flawlessly now

  223. Andrew,

Thank you for providing this service! I have been reading your guides and your responses, so I believe I have meticulously followed your guide to a tee!

I am trying to install a Clover booted Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 on the following system:

    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH
Processor: Intel i7-4790K LGA1150 (I believe this is called the “Haswell”)
    Memory: 32GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR3 1600
Graphics: Onboard Integrated (Intel HD 4600 I think it is)

When using your Mac OS X Install Guide, I cannot seem to make it to Part 8, Step 6, (Booting the OS X Installer).

When I do this I get this (Stuck on DSMOS has arrived): https://www.dropbox.com/s/c6p5w7q3zpxqert/IMG_4872.JPG?dl=0

In case it matters, here is what I am trying to do. If this is impossible, or if there is a better order or way to do this, please let me know:
    1. I want to get a Clover booted OS X 10.10.5 system running with the Onboard graphics.
    2. Then I want to install an AMD Vapor-X R9 280x graphics card that I have after that.
    3. My desire is to use both this discreet graphics card and the onboard graphics simultaneously.

    Thanks for your assistance!
    Patrick
