  1. I need an Asus motherboard dmg. I cannot find it on your website; there are not dmg’s that I even see.

  2. Thanks for everything.
I am a little unclear on which kext to use for my Asus VII hero through B7 and which through clover bootloader.

  3. Hi,

    System Specs:
    Motherboard: Asus H97i-plus
    CPU: Intel i5-4590 3.2ghz
    GPU: Intel HD 4600
    SSD: Corsair LX 128GB

I followed the step by step instructions and successfully installed Yosemite. I have used this Haswell DMG but did not copied the SSDT since I don’t have a discrete VGA anyway (or should I still copy it?).

    1. No network. I have tried both the AppleIntel1000 and the 1000e kext but still doesn’t work. I’ve used 1000e with my unibeast + multibeast installation before and it’s working but with clover it doesn’t work.
    2. No audio. I followed the instruction from the dmg but cannot get it to work.

    Please advice! Thanks.

    • You failed to install a SSDT creating your problem. Please use any SSDT either Nvidia or AMD version. Just use one. Please do not mix other install methods with mine as this will break the install. Post a IOREG after installing the SSDT and restarting so we can sort this out.

      • Just to be clear, even if I don’t have a discrete VGA and I’m using the built-in GPU (Intel HD 4600), I would still copy the SSDT?

  4. Hi Andrew !
I have installed your SSDT in my z97X SOC FORCE and it working fine ! also have a SSDT-1.aml ( generated whit your guide ) to get cpu states ( system don’t boot whit generate cpu states )
I only have a problem whit the sound ( ALC 1150 ).. only output in the black port ( line out) .. gren port don’t work.

  5. Hi,
    i´ve got the following problem:
i use the MSI Z97 PC Mate with an i5-4460 and the onboard graphic. all runs smoothly except the audio – there is none. System report shows nothing under audio. i installed the correspondending ssdt for my mobo, first the nvidia – no sound, then the amd: same result. any suggestions?
2nd problem: if falling to standby, i can only reset the hard way and reboot to get back to yosemite.
    merry christmas

  6. In your Haswell DMG
What do the different colour dots mean for each motherboard?

  7. Hello,

Can I instal OS X Yosemite on my MB Asus H81M-K or I must buy the new one , like H97, Z97 etc.

  8. I not need to send you my IOREG and DSDT ?

  9. Terminal have only on MAc os , I have only PC .

  10. Hello Andrew! I’m from Serbia, my english is not the best.

I install Yosemite with your guide, I have Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H motherboard, i5 4670K CPU. My problem is, that I have only 3 speedstep 8,36,38.
How can I fix it, that I have normal speedstep?

  11. Hi, I’m using
    Z97X-UD5H-BK, i5-4690K, HD4600 Graphics.
After installing OS X 10.10.1 Using your guide I’ve noticed that my audio device id =0.
So, running the Realties command fails.
I realize that I have to change audio device id to 1, but I’m to new to hackintosh to know how to make the change.

  12. Can i install OS X Yosemite on my configuration????

    MB: ASUS z87-A
    RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 16Gb
    GPU: nVidia GTX 590

  13. Hi,
I installed OS X Yosemite 10.10 following this guide. But sleep doesn’t work. OS X goes to sleep. Then the system goes to sleep. But the system restarts after a few seconds. OS X is still in sleep. But the system starts and stops and starts…

    What could be the problem?

ASUS GTX780Ti-DC2-GD5 (the same problem without the card)
    16GB Corsair Vengence 1866MHz 2x8GB Kit (Detected as 1333MHz)
    500GB HDD

  14. Hello! Thanks for the guide!!!

My only problem is, that the automatic boot doesn’t work. When I turn on the computer, then I must press the enter at the boot screen. I see that in configplist is set to 5sec, but it doesn’t work. Can you help me?

    • The config list is correct. You need to read the clover documentation and make the required changes.

      • Or just delete the Clover folder from mounted EFI drive, and then install clover again + configplist + SSDT + kexts?

        • No. Just follow the DMG as stated. If you need to need to replace Clovers HFS driver for the alternate thats fine.

        • Okay, but I first must delete the RC script…I had follow your guide, the only change is, that I had install the RC Scripts too, and change the HFSPlus.efi. Maybe the RC Scripts make the trouble(won’t automatic boot)?

        • The Yosemite is installed, so I speak about post install…how to remove the RC Scripts? becouse isn’t in your post install guide.

    • Hi. I had the same problem but I read the clover guide and found out the anwser. Go to EFI / Clover / Config.plist

In boot section, you have to change “MacHDD” for your disk’s name.

In may case, for example, I changed “MacHDD” to “Macintosh” that is the name of my disk.

      That is all.

  15. I’m sorry, that I make so many post on your site, you can delete it after.
So, I just select the things in Clover, which is in your guide in DMG? The RC Scripts will disappear if I uncheck it in Clover?

  16. Hi Andrew! Thanks for the great guides!

My problem is that the hackintosh recognize 1333MHz instead of 1600MHz by RAM memory. Can I just put in your config.plist under XMP profile “1” or “true” instead of “false”?

  17. Hello,

First of all thanks Andrew for your work for the hackintosh community.
I installed OSX on my MSI Z97M Gaming. I installed clover bootloader and all nescessary kexts. All is right except for CPU power management.
I tried to install your ssdt in order to get proper cpu management but I lose sound when doing it (used toleda clover command). Is there something I’m missing?
I tried to reinject native AppleHDA then reboot with SSDT and run Toleda patch but I get an error message.
I hope you’ll be able to help me.

    • SSDT on the DMG has nothing to do with power managment. Also why are you not following the DMG Read me. At no Point should you be doing anything with Clover and Audio.

Please reinstall the System and properly install the files provided on the DMG. Until then I can not look into the issue as I can not trust anything on the System.

      • Hi,

I’ve been doing a fresh install following step by step the readme file and as previously when ssdt is loaded (I had to do a reboot to load ethernet kext and be able to download the audio patch) there is no way to do the last step (patching audio).
Bellow is the error message I get:

        /Users/reup/Downloads/audio_RealtekALC-master/audio_realtekALC-100_v1.0.4.command: line 247: [: ==: unary operator expected
Error: no IOReg/HDEF; BIOS/audio/disabled or ACPI problem
        No system files were changed

I tried without the SSDT and it worked on my previous install.
Do I really need to use the ssdt file provided? What does it bring exactly?

  18. I don’t use the ssdt file provided and everything seems to work fine so I think I’ll stay without it. Can you tell what is the exact use of the ssdt file in your dmg?

  19. Sounds great. Thanks

  20. My Chameleon install was behaving badly after upgrading to 4790k and 970, poor performance and boot failures… followed your Clover guide and used your SSDT and now everything is running stable and full speed. Thanks man, you rock! donation incoming

  21. Would you happen to know if the SSD M.2 Samsung drive is supported? Model MZHPU512HCGL Its PCIe Gen 2 SSD. I have the Z97-Deluxe board and not sure if the chipset for that socket is supported or not or if Yosemite will support this? Thanks

    • It is but to boot you need to mod the BIOS.

      • Asus tech support said there is no oprom on that module and that I would need to disable csm as your guide says anyhow for bios and that I would have to set as raid. It will still be AHCI. I believe these settings would be for windows. No idea if setting raid would work in macos?

  22. I think I have mistaken what you meant by Mod. Edit the Bios settings or actually mod the bios? I read on some boards that do not have the M.2 connector they used a PCIe to M.2 converter and had to extract the DXE driver and insert it into the bios using mmtool. Not sure of the exact procedure. Won’t Clover’s DXE 64 bit driver or equivalent enable boot without modding the bios with the Z97-Deluxe?

  23. Hello Andrew, I have found myself struggling to install 10.10.1 on Asus Z97-deluxe (NFC and WLC). That model just has more goodies like Thunderbolt just not connected yet. Is your SSDT for Z97-Deluxe v1.1 support my board? I keep running across this problem when I boot. It gets through most of the boot as verbose will show in my photobucket link but then I get scrambled text and it looks like the last thing printed is Still waiting for Boot device. Thanks

  24. Nvidia GTX 770 4GB from EVGA. Also tried to boot with intel graphics after removing the card. It just stops similar to with the EVGA and just never continues without the scrambled kext. I have a lot of luck with the GTX 770 on the X97-Deluxe and Ivy Bridge boards I have. They boot fine.

  25. Hey Andrew its working now. I completely cleaned up Clover, Reinstalled it and it works perfect now. Sorry to bother. That scrambled text thing I have seen that in the past with other motherboards and forgot how I ever resolved it. Maybe just refreshing the USB may have done it in the past. Thanks

  26. Hi Andrew, If you want to delete that last two posts since it looks like it was my error? Good news the Samsung XP941 512GB works OOB in the M.2 slot. I left CSM enabled and did not have to change to Raid as per Asus tech support. I left it as AHCI. Now to test thunderbolt. I have to install windows then load a thunderbolt device to enable it in MacOS or that is how I had to do it on my Asus Laptop G750Jx-DB71 thunderbolt version 1.

  27. Thunderbolt works great. Only shows up when I make connections otherwise it does not show up in System Profiler under thunderbolt. Is the Asmedia USB3 controller supported natively or we need the USB driver for that?

  28. Hallo, i’m trying to install yosemite on my desktop pc with clover following your guide. clover boot works, i can select the usb, the logo appear, but then it always fails with the message “still waiting for root device” and i can get over it

i have an asus h97 plus with nvidia gtx 760, it seems they should work but over the internet and in the forums it seems no one know to make them run properly

  29. ok, now it’s work. i’ve added the .aml and the .plist from the dmg, i can boot into the installation process, it goes, but at the and it gets into a black screen and to not be able to restart the pc

    • Hi Axiom, my advice would be to first do your install without your graphic card, then add nvidia drivers, setup your bios and reboot with the gtx on. Also I think ssdt.aml should be used only when audio is patched (it prevented me to boot without applying audiopatch). It is only suggestions as I don’t have the same mobo as yours, Andrew should be able to give you better answers.

      • i guess it goes sleep just in the end of the installation process!!! i did it again and everything works fine, so now i’m typing from my new yosemite. i thanks rampagedev to solve my issues after a week in which i’ve got crazy to be able to do this.

the only thing that is not working is the audio, the patch doesn’t work and it says ‘no audio codec detected’

even the wife usb connector is not detected form the osx and i solve it with a program that make it works, but maybe there is a way to get it ok

  30. which post? however i’ve tried to restore the nativa applehda due to some error and now the toleda method works, but end with ‘audio id=0 y/n’ amd it says if i answer y the audio will not work after reboot. no output device is detected in system audio

    • i’ve seen the post, i tried another unsuccess clean installation but still no audio with this message at the patch: no IOReg/HDEF; BIOS/audio/disabled or ACPI problem

i need to run alc-9serie-hda93 before to patch? however i will wait the new dmg and try again

just a question: following your instructions it seems we have to install, to log into the installer again and then to boot into the mac osx. just the first time i tried the procedure it goes that way, today i’ve tried three times and the second boot from installer seems to be the same than the first, not an automatic continuation. i hope i was able to explain what i mean, my english is very bad

      thank you

  31. Hi, Thank you so much!
I’ve followed the guide and now I have my Gigabyte Z97X UD7 TH under Yosemite 10.10.2 with Thunderbolt ports working without hot swap (for me not necessary) and 5.1 dolby surround thru hdmi port of my Nvidia GT 740 with 3 monitors connected and one Yamaha Dolby Surround connected between the 3rd monitor which is an LG 3D TV. I’ve tested the machine with an AVID Media Composer 8.3.0 with a stereoscopic and 5.1 dolby surround project and everything is ok (I’m a video editor and I’m working on a 3D documentary). I’ve noticed that the motherboard shows the “51 code” (memory initializing error) and when a try to shutdown it restart instead of turning off. Another little weird thing is even if I’ve installed the Nvidia web drivers the system doesn’t want to use them. I can say even if there is the 51 error code, the mobo doesn’t shutdown and the graphic card (the card is a Nvidia Gt 740) is detected as a Nvidia cheap model, everything works fine and I can use this machine with AVID and Final Cut Pro without problem. Any idea to solve the shutdown issue and the “51 error code”?
Thank you and sorry for my english.

    • You have to use the boot flag for the Retail Drivers. Do not look at the menu as that is cosmetic.

I have the same board and Sleep and Shutdown do not give any Memory error.

  32. Hi. Gigabyte has released a beta bios for the Z97X-UD7-TH (f5d) I’m holding off on flashing it because I’m not sure if the SSDT you created is BIOS specific (I assume it must be.) When you have time, would you mind looking into it on your test system?

  33. still doesn’t work for me, i assume i have to give up with my hackintosh

i’ve done a new fresh installation
    issues in the procedure:
the installer run just one time, maybe it’s cause i have an updated yosemnite installer, 10.1 or 10.2 instead of the 10.10?

kexthelper always gives an error at the final reboot, it seems close but it isn’t closed, however i guess it installs the kexts

audio patch: i changed all the hdef in hdau and ran it, it never ask to patch the intel hd4600, but it apparently runs with success. at the reboot: no output device.

  34. Hi Andrew!

I had installed the Yosemite with your guide…
    My specs is: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H, I5 4690K, HD4600.
Can I just update to 10.10.2? Will be some trouble?

  35. Hi Rampage,

Can i try your Haswell dmg file for my Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H v.1.0 ?
The file in Haswell dmg if for the v.1.1

    Thank you

  36. Yes, i’d like follow your method from A > Z 🙂
Have already install Mavericks with Unibeast method and is succesfull.
But i’m curious if i can do it with Clover.
From what i read on your site, i need to flash my Asus GTX 770 with the rom you indicate but i don’t know how to do it.

Thank you for the good job 🙂

    • No, the GPU issue has nothing to do with Clover at all but a Mac OS X issue with that GPU. Please read what that ROM addresses.

That said if you reinstall with my method you will have a solid System since the install will not be done using a broken method.

  37. Yes, a Solid System, that’s the Goal 🙂
I make a coffie and start read your Tutorials twice 🙂
    Thank you very much

  38. Hello, I have AlienWare X51 R2, I wanted to know what DMG is best for me ?

  39. I have an ASUS Z97-A. I put your SSDT.aml in the /Patched folder, but I still don’t have ethernet. System report says there is no ethernet card. I tried putting AppleIntelE1000e.kext into /EFI/EFI/Clover/Kexts/10.10/ but then the boot hangs right after the kext loads at BSD root:

    • SSDT plays no part with the LAN Driver working.

Please follow the set instructions on the DMG as you have failed to do so. Please wipe the system and Install with my Install Guide and then follow the set instructions on the DMG. If you do not follow the set instructions you will have issues.

  40. Hello, I have an AsRock H97m Pro4, and in your Haswell DMG the folder for it is empty. Is it because there is nothing to do post-install or because you don’t have created anything for it yet?

  41. Hi Andrew,

when I download the Haswell dmg and open it up in Yosemite, there are coloured circles for each board. Do they mean anything?
Some are yellow, orange green, red even, I was worried they might somehow indicate compatibility of each board.
My P9X79Pro died the other day and I’m looking at moving to a Gigabyte X97x UD5H board and wanted to know if it is fully compatible with Hackintoshing…

    Thanks mate.

  42. Hi Andrew,

Following your guides, I’ve managed to install Mac OS on my Z97X-UD5H board.

Everything seems to work, however there is one little issue.
The audio plays up sometimes, almost randomly. I can boot into Yosemite, only to find audio crackling and no actual sound coming out. I then restart the machine and it all works fine. Then next time I restart, there is a chance that I get no audio. I installed everything as detailed in your last step of the DMG.

This is more of a question than an issue, but is there a way to just boot into Yosemite, bypassing the Clover boot menu?

    Thanks Andrew.

    • Not my audio patch so I don’t know. See patch folder for info on how to report the issue to the dev.

Yes, to booting with a timer, read clover docs on how to do so.

  44. Any chance for adding support for the Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 Rev2.0?

  45. i’ve done a clean installation, almost everything ok but:

    – impossibile to login icloud, the error is ‘apple id is valid but it’s not an icloud account’. it’s bizzarre because on my iphone and ipad it’s working and an hour before it was working on the previous mac installation. also impossibile to login in the apple store and any other service (email, contacts, ecc)

    – clover boot loader can’t boot windows, in another sad disk, it’s a mistery

    thank you for any help

  46. I have downloaded the Haswell DMG but didn’t find support for my Asus Board it’s a Asus Rog Maximus VII Formula can some one help me to get it to work.

    Thanks 🙂

  47. Hi again!
I’m posting here as i fullfilled the install of yosemite! wich was actually running smoothly (even recognized my graphic cards). So i started this guide to complete the install and boot directly on the OS.
So I feel Like it did it all right… but there must be something wrong. As when I restarted the computer, it booted into Clover and now it is stuck at the half of the OS loading latest line in verbose (just a few line under “Missing Bluetooth Controller Transport!”): “128.163156: ATHR: unknown locale: 21”

    Any ideas?
Thanks for your wonderful help and support!

  48. Hi again! After an hour of waiting it wrote: “AppleLPC: :start – Could not find IOPlatformPlugin driver.”

I’ve also read that this error might be due to my wifi card. I’ll try unplugging it and see what’s happening.

  49. Hello again! Sorry for the spamming, just to keep it updated. Removing the wifi card didn’t change anything at all.

  50. Hi !
Thanks for your wonderful support! So I removed one, it worked and then I made the installation thru the bootloader for the graphic cards. Place the second one back inside and it works like a charm. There is still one thing that I can’t find any tutorial for it: The RAM speed. Theshow up as two bars f 8GB (which is right) but the speed shown is 1600Mhz but they are 2400Mhz. How could I enable the full Ram support?
Btw donation comming in today! thanks for your help!

  51. I take back what I said up there. I got the memory running at the right speed. But the graphic cards still have some issues. I am trying to make a multi display setup… and for now I am stuck with one display. I’ll dig deeper into this. But if you have any tips .
(and by the way, just a little idea for you site improvement: add an “edit” option on the comments. It would avoid spamming like i did because i write too fast.)

    Thanks again!

  52. First things first… a BIG thank you for all your time and effort doing these guides!

I’m moving from Uni/MultiBeast Mavericks, which worked at first attempt, to Yosemite because using a GTX970 instead onboard HD4600 graphics. I read that you can’t install it on Mavericks, tried but it didn’t recognise it.

I found your Clover guide and after reading the install and the post install guides questions I followed both guides step by step from A to Z with onboard HD4600 graphics (took out 970 for later install). I got Yosemite 10.10.3 installed at first shot but… no audio.
When tried to run the Audio Patch before 1st Restart, it said that no codex was found and no Input/Output devices showing at SysPrefs/Sound. I restarted and then tried again and this time it run as expected and I got the same Terminal Saved Output as the one included in the downloaded folder.
Restarted again and at SystemPrefs/Sound I got Input/Output devices!!! connected mini plug to MB green output but no audio, tried another devices and black output but none of them are working.

    Any help will be appreciated!

    • Email me a IOREG. Sounds like the SSDT with either not installed or not loading.

      • You won’t realize about the sound problem I had…

I was testing sound with volume keys, LOL!!!! I was dumb enough, frustration helped a lot, to not trying another method, but how I would guess that the sound at volume keys was an OPTION in Yosemite? I’m using OSX since 1st release…

Every, EVERY, went smooth with your guides… If you blind follow them you are guaranteed to forget about troubles!

Sent a little donation for the BIG effort you are gifting to all of us…

PD: excuse my english, I speak spanish…

  53. Hi everybody!

I encourage all of us for a little donation for the big effort that Andrew is gifting here. Not only his knowledge but his wisdom, patience and all of that’s for free!!!

Without him, people like me will be sitting at the very bottom of a dark cave, trying to guess what to do. But instead of that I have a full working station!

I have full support for my 1600MHz ram with XMP detection=yes, before with Multibeast I can’t even select Profile 1 at the Bios ’cause it won’t boot. Got my 4790K running at 4 / 4.4 GHz Turbo. Flawless audio. Sleep is working as expected.
Boot from UEFI (Mac like). Ethernet flying. GTX970 working… Everything works!

And HE did it!!! He support us, so we need to support him.

    Thanks Andrew!

  54. Hey Andrew! I have a question.
    My setup:
    -i5 4690K
    -Asus Sabertooth Mark2 z97
    -8GB Ram
    -GTX 970
    -SSD 256GB and 320GB HDD
I want to install Yosemite… Would you recommend me to install a distro such as Niresh or the original OS? I have some previous experience installing ML 10.8.5 with a Gigabyte mobo (I used a distro). I would like to install the easiest version if possible… Thank you very much!

    • Please follow the set install instructions that is linked to on this page. Please Read and follow as laid out. Failure to do so will result in a broken install and no Support from us here at Rampage Dev.

  55. Thanks very much for your guide. Very easy to follow and with great results.

I am running into an issue with my SPDIF port cutting out after playing audio for only a few moments. Motherboard is Z97X-UD5H-BK with 4790K. Any advice?

  56. Andrew, thanks for the great guides. I was able to effortlessly install 10.10.3 on a Gigabyte z97x-ud7 th with i4790k.

    Two questions:
    1) When booting into 10.10.3, after the initial black/white apple logo screen with the progress bar, I get a second logo screen, with the multiple horizontal apple logos and some tearing/horizontal lines. Bootup continues normally, so it appears to be cosmetic, but is there any I need to do to correct this?

    2) I have no fan sensor data, is there anything I can do to get the sensor data to show?

    • 1. Non issue.

      2. What fans do show up and what app are you using. Please don’t install Kexts not provided on the DMG if you did remove 3rd party kexts.

      • Thanks for the reply Andrew. I’m using iStat menus. No fan sensor data shows up at all, just CPU temp information. I used only the kexts provided on your dmg, and did not remove or install any other kexts.

Additional question – do you have a recommended way of activating TRIM support?

        • Hi,
I also have your issue number 1 and would like to get rid of it. Did you fixed yours?

        • Ok. Use another app to verify. Works here on the same board.

Bin patch for Trim. We are working on a Storage/SATA/SAS Guide which will not be done until next month.

        • Andrew thanks for the help! Will try a different app to monitor the fan speeds – do you have any particular favorites?

Ryan – as for the boot screen, I have not attempted to do anything with, and it appears to be cosmetic

        • Andrew, I would like to add an AMD card to my system (Sapphire r9 280x), right now I am running intel graphics. During my initial install of your Haswell DMG, I placed the motherboard appropriate AMD SSDT into the “patched” folder. Should this be sufficient to get the graphics card working when I install?

        • Yes. For your Brand and Model GPU that is all that should be needed.

        • Thanks Andrew – do I need to alter config.plist so that ATI = True? How about Intel = True or False? And is it ok/recommended to turn of intel graphics in BIOS?

        • See my AMD Documentation Page.

        • Andrew, thanks for the help with the R9 280x, worked great OOB. Came up on another issue – have you had anyone had issues with the ethernet hanging during large file transfers (50+ Gb)? Using the mobo intel ethernet (ga-z97-ud7 th) with the intel kext from the Haswell DMG. Works fine all the other times, but will consistently hang and be unrecoverable (other than via reboot) when I perform distributed encoding with Compressor jobs. Thanks

        • That’s a issue with the Driver.

      • Andrew, do you suggest HWmonitor to get temperatures from GPU and CPU? Thanks!

        • Yes. DO NOT INSTALL THERE FAKESMC OR PLUGINS. They can create issues as the FakeSMC on the DMG is keyed for the SMBIOS being used and there is not. More goes into the kexts then people think. 🙂

  57. Will the Intelmausi driver work better from your Intel networking guide? Thanks

  58. Is gigabyte Ga-b85m-d3h supported ? The board isn’t in the Haswell DMG

  59. Andrew,

thanks for your awesome guides, I really enjoyed setting up my machine:

    Asus Z97-A
    Core I7 4790K
    16 GB Ram @ 1600Mhz
    Intel HD 4600
Fusion drive with Samsung 840 Pro + Barracuda 3 TB
    Self build AC Wifi card

However I had some problems setting up my sound, I always got the following error message:

Error: no IOReg/HDEF; BIOS/audio/disabled or ACPI problem

  60. hello sir am wondering if my specs could be hackintoshed
    i have an i7 4790k 4..4ghz
    a gtx 970 a msi one
    a GA-Z97X-GAMING7 motherboard
    8gb of ram 2133mhz
??? thamk youand keep up the good work 🙂

  61. and please one more question if the hackintosh is successful can iinstall softwares normaly on it like the adobe suit and sketchup ext… ? thanks for the awsome work 🙂

    • Nothing different then a real Mac.

      • thankyou sir for the reply i installed yosemite zone with chamelion but itjust dont work fine i mean the system is running normaly with no freeze or panic but for softwares like photoshop or sketchup even the buttons in the ribbon like the apple file ext… it become slow when i click it takes a little time to run its not smooth if you knew whats the problem i think its the yosemite zone 10.10.1 that i installed the problem
PS: it recognized everything cpu i installed graphic sound still a problem with ethernet i have killer e2200
thanks and keep up the good work

        • I only support installs using the install guide provided on this site due to the fact that many other methods and or mixing methods will result in a dysfunctional or broken install. I would recommend that you install using the UEFI method provided here on Rampage Dev and then following the instructions on the Haswell DMG. If there are still issues I would gladly help with them.

  62. SSDT z87x from Haswell Guide: If Audio ID=0 in system profile, you should fix this before apply Toleda patch. The way I fix it was apply ALC 898, to get ID, and after the patch.

If not proceed in this way you should reinstall applehda.kext native or reinstall all the upgrade or combo again.

  63. Hello Andrew thank you for replying to my messages I just wanted to tell you that I found the problem it was in the hard drive it wasn’t working properly thank you very much for the help keep up the good work sir

  64. Mr. Kern–Thanks for the work you’ve done here for the Hackintosh community.

In the Haswell DMG support files is the custom SSDT file for the ASUS Z97-A. Is that file compatible with the ASUS Z97-AR?

    • No, is there no folder for the Asus Z97-AR.

      • As I have the Z97-AR in my existing PC, can I send you requisite files for creation of the modified SSDT? If I understand from prior posts, you would want an IOREG? A DSDT as well?

These files are to be extracted from within OS X, is that correct? If so, can the OS X install be minimally functional (e.g. no audio; no speedstep; and…?). I would like to assist with this board if it would be helpful to other prospective Hackintoshers.

  65. Very good, thank you. I have sent both IOReg and DSDT to you.

I’m sure it’s painfully obvious that I’m out of my element here, but am willing to learn. Thanks again for your work here.

  66. Hey Andrew,

After copy pasting the corresponding DSDT (for my Z87-PRO) in the PATCHED folder (and following the other steps) my Hackintosh crashes on boot. Any idea what could cause this? I’m on my tenth or so re-install and all this is driving me insane.. sigh.

  67. Great source of info here!

Inside the Haswell.dmg under Step 3 I found my motherboard: GA-Z97X-UD3H but it is for rev 1.2 and I have rev 1.1 of this board. Please can anyone tell me if this is safe to use for my board?

    • If you look around the other folders you would have noticed a theme. That is the build number for the SSDT and had no relation to the motherboard version not will it effect the functionality of the ssdt.

      • Hmm I’m sorry I didn’t quite understand your response but after looking around the other folders I found rev 1.1 in /Tools/Legacy/Step

I guess now I am wondering what BIOS revision this is for? I have an F7 version BIOS.

        • What is there not to understand? That is the build number for the SSDT and had no relation to the motherboard version not will it effect the functionality of the ssdt. Ever hear of file versions before?

  68. Hi Andrew,

This is a great resource. Thanks so much for creating it. I have one question. I have a Haswell system [Gigabyte Z97X-UD7-TH,i7-4790K LGA 1150,GTX 960] that I installed OSX 10.10.4 on using XXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX with the XXXXXXX boot loader. Is there any reason I couldn’t take your Haswell DMG and follow the instructions in it to change my system to start using Clover. This assumes I use set the BIOS appropriately on startup.

Thanks in advance for the favor of a reply.

    • You cant do this due to the broken install method that you used. Your current install method in short created a broken system which can not be corrected without a clean and native install outlined in are install guide. Then and only then can you apply the DMG.

  69. Hi, rampagedev
    It’s shiecldk from insanelymac 😛

I’m working on Z97X-UD7 TH, i7-4790K, GTX 750Ti with Clover. However, I’ve been stuck on installation for 5 days….

This is what I got on the screen in OS X 10.10.5 second stage installation. (It’s OK to boot into the first stage installation)

At the end, it gave me “Still wait for root device” However, the bios is already in AHCI mode, and I’ve tried to disable Thunderbolt, but no help either. (Vd-t disabled too)

These are my files in EFI folder

Any help would be appreciative! Thank you! 🙂

    • Please follow the install guide.

      Remake your USB installer.

      Disable Onboard Serial Port.

      • Thank you rampagedev!!
        I’ve successfully installed 10.10.5 now!
Now I’m gonna do the perfections.

Btw, I’ll make an 6ch driver for ALC1150 and upload it to insanelymac on these days, so then maybe you’d like to give it a try. 😉

      • Hi, rampagedev
Have you got the thunderbolt ports fully worked?
Is there a guide or file for thunderbolt DSDT path or something?

If I enable thunderbolt in Bios, even if I’ve altered the mode to Legacy, the booting speed is still very slow.
After plunging Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet adopter before and after system start up, I still saw no thunderbolt ethernet work. It seems my thunderbolt ports don’t work at all.

        • Works here. Nothing to add or do in the DSDT or any ACPI file for that matter in regards to TB. What motherboard?

        • Same motherboard, Z97X-UD7 TH

But I have slow boot speed after enabling thunderbolt in Bios..

I also set Peripherals > Thunderbolt > Security Level: to Legacy Mode, but the boot speed is still slow.

        • Please do not worry about boot time nor mod, change or edit any system files or files from the DMG. Stop rebooting your computer every 5 mins and then boot time does not matter. 🙂 This is a non issue nor should any time be spent working on it.

  70. Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your guide. It was successful to me. I have two questions.

I noticed that Fakesmc.kext version is outdated then I replaced it to the newest 6.18.1394. With that I could install the Nvidia web Drivers without the crazy fan problem. Nowadays Nvidia web drivers support in beta phase definitions like iMac 14.2 and others.
The only bug with HwMonitor is that the gpu fan is stuck at 19 rpm. I’ve tested the temperature of my graphic card and is ok. The fan speed is normal even with Unigine Heaven Benchmark: min. 33 °C and max. 85 °C., similar to Windows.
Also, I bought Corsair HG10 N780 and hydro H75 but I don’t install yet (to prevent any disaster).
    Question 1.
What do you think about this? Is it only cosmetic or this bug affect to performance?

    Question 2.
After installation, can I remove your ssdt and change it for a dsdt made with MaciAsl? Without your ssdt, I noticed that Pc starts and reboot faster. The only thing that I don’t like it was my card doesn’t appear in slot-2 in Nvidia manager panel but under slot-4 (a new and solitary place).

    Thanks for all.
    My rig: i7-4770k / ga-z97x-sli / gtx 780 (gk110b)

    • Please follow the guide as instructed and I hope that you do not cook your GPU. You will destroy and do permanent hard to your hardware if you keep doing what you are doing. You have been warned.

    please help ?

  72. Hello Andrew I have a question about the fakesmckeystore.kext. I am using your kexts but just wanted to ask if this particular kext is in its original state or if you have made modifications to it? It has been depreciated as far as being a separate kext in later versions of FakeSMC. Thanks

  73. Hi I’m doing some research before jumping in and just wondering can I use a DSDT with this method of install? Or is a motherboard specific one already provided with the dmg?
Secondly will this work with the nvidia web driver? I have a Evga GTX750TI

Finally just want to know how is this method better than say a XXXXXXXX setup with chameleon?

    • You do not need to use a edit DSDT as we use SSDT to edit the DSDT so you can update the BIOS without issues.

You need the Retail Drivers with your GPU.

And are install is native and not a broken shot gun installation method that leaves the system permanently crippled.

  74. Rampagedev – Your work is very much appreciated & quite impressive! I am a total neophyte and got 10.10.5 loaded up using your instructions. Everything seems to be 100% other than the bluetooth & audio (I thought for sure I would have probs w onboard WiFi but working great). I looked back in the comments and see that several people have had the same issue – some having it go away on its own and others don’t say. I have an ASUS z97 deluxe w i7 4790 setup & OS X installed on samsung sdd (no gpu yet but planning on r9 280x). I followed all the instructions including audio at the end (changing HDEF to HDAU). Script appeared to run properly, but no sound thru the machine. No realtek recognized in system preferences/sound. Any news on the audio front? Thanks in advance,

    • You are referring to items that have NO relation to what you are talking about. Please post a IOREG and we can review what is really happening. Do not mix other peoples issues with yours. There issues where from Sleep that we do not support and or failing to READ the instructions and running the wrong patch.

  75. Hi, Andrew Kern.
I saw your Haswell DMG and verify a ssdt.aml for GAZ97X-UDH5-BK. I have several difficult for compile my dsdt.aml. I extarct using Aida64 and had several error. I would like know if you have dsdt.aml for GAZ97X-UDH5-BK.

    My computer.
Core i7 – 4790k – I made my ssdt.aml using MaciASL using specification of manufacturer.

  76. Hello, I’m searching for the correct configuration for a ASUS B85M-E board.
Would you be able to help me find that?
I’m new and I tried to do some research but I couldn’t find much sadly.

    Thanks anyways!

  77. I know there is not a dsdt in dmg . I thought you already had a hackintosh with the motherboard and if Could send me the correct dsdt . I am having problem for correct the dsdt mine.

  78. Lovely. Just have to say mad props to you guys for rolling out a pretty simple install kit here. Rolling out this clover + SSDT patching native solution this way is pretty darn elegant compared to other methods that shall not be named. My last major build was a 1366 that required hand patching/compiling dozens of DSDT edits 😛

i5-4690K + GA-Z97X-UD3H up and running with a pre-prepared boot drive and basically zero effort in about 2 minutes. Hard to beat that :P.

    1. I presume that is basically the toleda acpi (ssdt/dsdt) audio patch method bundled in the SSDT, correct?

    2. Does this SSDT prevent / allow overclocking?

    • 1. its not his method at all. Never has been. Same method that we have used for the past 7+ years at this point. Do not give people credit for other peoples work. Also its Apples raw code that we use.

      2. Seems you are mis understanding what are SSDT does. It has nothing at all to do with the CPU. We have a SSDT that patches the boards DSDT.

  79. I have tried both an upgrade and a fresh install of el capitan. In both situations I am plagued with what appears to be an issue from the ethernet/fakesmc kexts. There are two scenarios where I can boot successfully.

1: I boot using my usb stick as set up from this websites steps with the kexts on the stick and I can have my ethernet kext in the SLE and I have internet.

2: I boot using my hard drives efi without kexts in it and have JUST fakesmc installed from this sites guide. If i ever have fake smc and the ethernet kexts in SLE at the same time it gets stuck at missing bluetooth. I have tried all ways I can think of, using different kexts (yes first i used the ones from the DMG). Keep in mind I followed this sites instructions to the letter, as this was the site that got me to get a working install for yosemite. is rootless=0 needed at all? With the same kexts from the DMG used, my yostemite install works fine, it seems el capitan has the issue.

    My specs:
gigabyte ga z97x gaming 3 with a killer atheros nic
    msi gtx 970
    32 gigs of gskill ram

  80. Hi Andrew,

    PC Specs:
    Asus H97i-Plus
    Intel i5 4590
    8 GB Corsair RAM
    Intel HD 4600

I have a stable Hackintosh with 14,2 SMBIOS. My only problem is that I’m not getting my turbo speed (3.7 GHZ) and I’m not going down to at least 1 GHZ even without doing anything. I have completely followed your guide regarding SSDT generation and Power Management.

Maybe changing my SMBIOS to 15,1 which have the same specs with a real mid 2015 iMac would solve my issue.

Can you please provide a SMBIOS for 15,1 specially for my specs above.

    Thank you

    • Your idea is mis-guided. Do not change the SMBIOS unless you what to brick your installation. What is your clock speed…

      • Thanks Andrew!

I have solved my issue though. What I did (for future reference with the same MB) was NOT to generate the SSDT-1.aml under your guide and REMOVE generate C-states, P-states and C6 on my config.plist. Now my CPU runs at 800 Mhz at minimum and spikes up to 3.65 on heavy load.

My next issue to solve now is the slow boot time when booting thru SSD. Using my USB installer to boot just takes 3-4 seconds while booting thru the SSD takes 20-30+ seconds from Clover screen to Login screen.

Thanks anyway for this site. More power!

  81. Hello Andrew!
    I have a Gigabyte Z97-HD3 motherboard and downloaded your Haswell.dmg and there’s not a SSDT for it…
Can I use the SSDT intended for some other model or I must wait for an update to the .dmg??
    Thanx in advance from Argentina!!

  82. Hi can i use the dmg on my Z87X-OX which is version 1.0??? not 1.1

  83. Audio links on Haswell DMG are not working.

  84. Hi

I would like to build a hackintosh with an I7-4770k or an I7-4790k.

But which motherboard should I pick?

And where does I find the dmg for the motherboard?

    – Rasmus

  85. I’ve followed the guides directly, however I’m currently forced to use Caffeine because every time the machine “tries” to go to sleep or hibernate, the screen goes blank as if it is going to sleep, then I hear the PC Fans rev up to full speed on and off several times while the screen is blank, sometimes it even reboots without me even touching it. If I wake it from sleep, I usually get the login (but the machine was never REALLY sleeping), but if I wake it after it sitting overnight, a period of time where it should’ve entered a hibernate state, the machine comes up to the Clover bootloader screen. Any ideas for this? I’ve seen custom DSDT mentioned several times, but I can’t seem to find a good, coherent guide.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  86. I downloaded the Haswell DMG and all of the motherboard folders are empty there is no files in any of them. I downloaded the file 3 separate times WTF ???

    • Some of the folders may not have anything in them as I never received DSDT and IOreg extracts. If you get those for me and email me with your system specs I can add support for your board.

  87. The ssdt.aml files were missing for all of the ASRock motherboards, so I couldn’t complete that step. I have an ASRock H97 Pro4, and if you have that file I’d quite like it!

  88. I have El Capitan installed on an ASUS Z97-AR + i5 and using HD 4600 graphics. The system exhibits a wake error. Sleep itself works on demand and is stable. On attempting to wake, the system starts and remains ‘up’ for several moments, then spontaneously shuts down and re-boots back into El Cap just fine. During the wake failure event the monitors get no signal.

Looking in Console I found an event with the correct timestamp in the Powermanagement section: “Feb 26 15:40:41 localhost powerd[49] : Drivers Failure during wake due to GFX0(),SAT0():”.

I understand that you do not support Sleep explicitly, and if this problem falls under that policy, then apologies for the post. It it’s sufficiently separate from sleep, I’d appreciate help understanding the cause of the wake failure.

  89. Hi Andrew,

As others have mentioned, I can find a specific SSDT in the DMG for my GA Z97 HD3 motherboard. Do you need anything from me to be able to provide that? I assume that the proper SSDT will allow me to use the VGA port, which causes my machine to hang while booting (DVI works just fine). Ideally, I’d like to use both.

    Thanks for your work.

  90. Hello,

Followed your guide for El Capitan install and Post Installation using Haswell DMG to the letter which went well with no issues. Upon first reboot without USB inserted, I am stuck at the mac logo with a full progress bar.

Verbose mode is showing I’m sticking at:
    IO8021AWDLPeerManager::setAwdlAutoMode Resuming AWDL

    Any thoughts?

  91. Hi Andrew, i’ve emailed you a screenshot of my verbose. I’ve sent a request for premium support if needed as well.

    Many thanks.

  92. Gigabyte Z97 D3H, i7 4790K, AMD 280X

After first reboot i can’t see uefi usb, in boot devices is now Mac OS X without install usb and with different hard drive its still there. Any solution ? What happened?

  93. Hi Andrew, I’m struggling getting audio to work in my system. These are my specs.

    Asus H97M-PLUS, I5-4590, Using onboard graphics HD4600
When I run toledas scripts I get this
“Error: no IOReg/HDEF; BIOS/audio/disabled or ACPI problem
    No system files were changed”
I asked for help from toleda, he looked at the ssdt, ioreg and other files and told me to disable HDEF in ssdt. I’d love to get some pinters as to how that can be achived.

BTW I’m using the Nvidia ssdt from Haswell.dmg

    Thank you for your help.

    • Do not listen to him. Please read the Audio READ ME on the DMG for Asus and MSI users which you did not read. 🙂

Once you do that you will understand what needs to be done to make the patch work since he refuses to fix his patcher.

      • Thank you Andew it works now. I had done the changes on the previous install but due to other changes it didn’t work, but forgot to change it this time.

Next week I’ll be attempting to fix iMessage by using a serial and an MLB from a dead mid 2012 mackbook pro. I’ll need to change settings in the SMBIOS and was wondering whether I’ll need to change the fakesmc kext.

        • You do not need to do anything to enable iMessages with any other files. Follow are guide here on Rampage Dev. The files on the DMG have everything you need to enable it. Works on every install that I have ever done if you follow that guide to the letter.

  94. please is compatible this model ?asus z97-E USB 3.1

  95. is necesary web drivers for quadro k2000 ?

  96. Hello!
Can I use the new Slice’s FakeSMC 3.4.1 instead of the other one included in your DMG?
Because I saw that your Kozlek’s FakeSMC is very old.

    • We would not recommend changing the FakeSMC. We use a old version for a good reason and its keyed for the said systems. The age of a FakeSMC does not matter and we rarely update as there is no need.

  97. Hi again!

    I have other question.
I’ve noticed that in Haswell DMG there are only SSDTs, but is it necessary to make a DSDT in your method and use both together?

  98. Hi Andrew

I had a successful installation following your guide on El Capitan, but I have a question.
My mobo is a Gigabyte Z97X-SLI, chipset 9.

When I use the SSDT, in System Report / Hardware / Sata-SataExpress, all drives show “Intel 8 Series Chipset”.
When I don’t use it, the drives show “Generic AHCI”.

If I have a mobo with chipset 9, why appears chipset 8?
    is this normal?

    • This is hardcoded in the SSDT. This is due to Apple never using the 9-Series chipset so we just load the other driver. We hard coded it so you don’t have to have the SATA ports set to ACHI in the BIOS since the SSDT hands off a supported Device ID. Clever right? 😉

  99. Hi Andrew,
i have the Asus Z97 Deluxe Mobo with the 4790K without a dedicated grapics card atm.
But the mobo has 1150 ALC audio and you “only” offer 887 ALC audio in you DMG.
Is this correct, or do i need other kexts besides yours?
And do you prefer injection with the kexts in Clover or having them in S/L/E?
    Trying to install 10.11.5 ElCap.
Or should i go with 10.10?

    Thanks and Kind regards!

  100. Hello.

My mobo Asus Maximus Hero VI dead.
I want to buy the same one. I saw on ebay the Asus Maximus VI Hero/G50AB for $139.
Do you think that mobo, G50AB, is the same to the original?
I have never seen before that model.
Could I use the same SSDT?

    Thanks Andrew.

  101. I have a Haswell System, Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH with Dual AMD Video Cards that I got up and running with your Haswell.DMG. Over all everything seems to be working fine with the exception of some random freezes that I think I might have solved, but ht e issue I am wanting to ask about is the motherboard-integrated USB3 ports. They are not working. Fortunately, the USB3 Ports that I have on a PCI card, as well as some USB3 ports that are on the top of my case that plug into the motherboard on the inside of the case, well, they seem to be working fine. Any tips on how to fix these USB ports? I wasn’t sure if I should be looking for fixes on since I used your DMG on this build. Thanks for any help you can provide!

    • What are you doing when you have a Lockup?

      • The lockups don’t seem to be related to the specific activity I am doing at the time that they happen, but they don’t ever happen when the computer is idle, like at night when I’m not using it, so who knows. I have had it lock up when downloading software updates (downloading only, not installing) but most often when editing video with Final Cut Pro X, because that is mostly what I do with my Hackintosh, the main purpose of my build. Any clues there?

  102. Hello Everyone,
Thanks to Andrew’s expertise, I was able to Install OS X Captain perfectly. But I stupidly forgot to turn off automatic software updates and my Hasckintosh updated itself to I have no clue what OS X, and now when I try to boot into Mac OS X, it shows the apple sign for around 15-20 seconds, then replaces the apple sign with a forbidden sign. I know this might only be fixable with a clean install, but I have a lot of personal data on there that it would be a huge pain if at all possible to recover that data elsewhere. I would appreciate if you can try to help me fix this issue. If you need more info, feel free to E-Mail me. (

  103. Sorry for the long delay,

I tried to boot in verbose before I asked for help. Here is what it said:

Library/CoreServices/boot/boot.efi OxsAptioFixDrv: Starting override for System\

OsxAptipFixDrv: Error – requested memory exeeds our relocation block

    Error loading kernel cache (ox9)
Boot failed, sleeping for 10 seconds before exiting…

  104. Note: In the first line the there should be more space between boot.efi and OxsAptioFixDrv. I can boot into the recovery, and I was thinking about reinstalling OS X. Would that erase all my data? And what do you think about it?

  105. I’m sorry, but I am not very savvy on the subject of Hackintoshes and I do not know how to do that. And just FYI, I am booting from my hard drive (A SSD). And I also do not have the USB that I used to install Mac OS X onto my computer anymore.

    • If anyone else needs the answer, here in the future, here is how to do this:

      1. Take the drive that contains OS X, connect is to another Hack/Mac computer. Run the Clover installer, choose the drive with the problem, uncheckmark “OxsAptioFixDrv”, checkmark “OxsAptioFix2Drv”, run the installation. Put the drive back and boot

      2. Connect a new drive to the computer with the problem, connect the Hackintosh Install USB, use it to install Mac OS X on the new drive, once done you run the Clover installer, choose the drive with the problem, uncheckmark “OxsAptioFixDrv”, checkmark “OxsAptioFix2Drv”, run the installation. Disconnect the new drive and disconnect the USB drive, reboot.

  106. Hi Andrew,

First of all thanks for the work. Are you releasing an updated Haswell.dmg? Specially the SSDT? The SSDT included in the dmg works great at my yosemite and el cap builds. It gives me a working Power Management. With Sierra Power Management doesn’t work.

    Here’s my specs:

    Asus h97i-plus
    Intel GFX HD4600

    • What issues do you have with power management? There are no updates as of right now for Haswell. Only x79 and x99 DMG at this time need updates from what we have found so far.

      • Power management on Yosemite and El Cap with your SSDT gives me a lot of cpu states. Idle state is 800 mhz and load states goes to 4.2 to 4.4.
But in Sierra, my cpu just fluctuate from 3.0 to 4.0. And it never rest. I mean even without doing anything, the cpu just jumps to 3.0-3.6-4.0.
With El Cap, idle state will give me straight line at 800mhz.

        Sleep is working though.

        • Email me about this and we can try to see if this is a system specific issue or a general issue. Thanks!

        • Hi Andrew,

I have sent you an email a week ago but haven’t heard from you yet. Please just tell me if uou want me to send the email regarding my issue again.

  107. Hi, I read your guide a few times and I don’t quite get it. I want to install OSX Sierra on my PC (i5 4590, GTX 960, Asus Z97-C) and I’m not sure which step is about installing the OSX installer onto my USB drive for later installation onto my PC. So far i’ve downloaded the official dmg from the App Store, as well as the “Haswell DMG” and the “Installation DMG”. Sorry if this is outrageously noob of me and thanks from taking the time to read me.

    • Its ok. You need the Install DMG first. Read and follow each step.

Now that you have the App Downloaded from the App Store mount the Install DMG. Then follow the steps laid out in the instructions. Once the USB is formatted you will apply Step 1 Folder which has the Scripts that puts the Installer onto the USB.

  108. Hi there!

Could you please make a DSDT for GA-Z97X-UD5H rev 1.0
There’s one on your website but for GA-Z97X-UD5H rev 1.2.

    Or they’re 100% compatible?

    Thanks a lot!

    • No. We do not make DSDT’s and if you read the Read Me on the DMG you would know that the version number is for the file within and has nothing to do with the board. Your simply not reading the information provided and skipping the most important step! Reading!

  109. Hi my boot time has increased after installing motherboard ssdt for the z97x ud7 th? When I remove ssdt it boots faster! Is there something I have done wrong? Just curious ! I have followed the guides exactly. Thanks for any help great job u have done!
