    P9X79 Deluxe

    P9X79-E WS

    P9X79 Pro

    P9X79 WS

    P9X79

But does this also support P9X79 LE? I mean its in the same line of motherboard, but will it still work?

  3. Hi I’ve tried sorting this out myself but I’m stuck and could use your help if you have a second. I apologize for all the questions and will be happy to donate what I can for your help…
So I tried to install Yosemite using your clover method. Followed instructions exactly as defined in the document. I can not get the clover screen to choose a boot drive to come up. The machine starts up and I get the Gigabyte Splash screen and then when it goes to boot from the USB stick it accesses the usb stick for a few seconds and then all I get is a black screen with one thin line of pixels of garbage at the top of the screen. I tried 2 different grfx cards (GTX480 and GTX780) and it does the same thing with both.
I am able to boot and install Yosemite and it works fine if I use Unibeast and Multibeast for some reason. The problem there is that I can get it to boot with my GTX480 (in the first slot) but it will not fully recognize my GTX780 in the 2nd 16x slot. It sees it but it shows up as 1mb vram. I’m guessing I need some sort of SSDT or DSDT injection to get both cards to work (since the GTX480 requires the graphics enabler and the GTX780 does not). Or am I trying to do something that will never work since the 480 and 780 are different architectures?
One last question… I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the difference between DSDT and SSDT… Is it possible to do injection via SSDT instead of DSDT? I noticed your SSDT in the DMG file for x79-up4 has the PCI0 section with the nvidia (using the nvidia version of course) injection in there. I’m assuming the injection you put in is a “template” for where the actual information for a specific card should go? I can use the injection information in the nvidia injection section of your website to fill in the template?
Thanks again for your help. I’m sure to you this is all old hat by now. I hate asking for help. It makes me feel stupid.

    • What BIOS Version is installed on the System? Make sure it is the latest Version.

Also are you booting to the UEFI Version of the USB and made the Proper BIOS changes?

      Reply
      • BIOS is F7 updated yesterday from F5. I thought that might be the problem.

I tried the BIOS in all modes: Legacy Only, UEFI Only, Legacy and UEFI. I tried selecting both UEFI boot option for USB stick and Regular boot option in the F12 select boot disk menu.

In all cases same thing… USB stick flashes the led a couple of times and then I get a black screen with one line of pixel garbage. No Boot loader screen.

    MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G
Gskill Trident 16GB (running at 1333 for some reason)

So far I’ve had no issues and scored well in Geekbench (22622 Multicore)

I’ve tried moving my USB plug to a different slot but nothing I do seems to get the front panel USB working and my USB3 is not working either.

  8. I hope this is my last comment…

After the build, installation and post installation my Hackintosh is running.
But after I do a Geekbench I see that I’m just using 1 core instead of 6.
When I open my BIOS when starting up, I see all 6 cores running?
Is there way to fix this…

  9. Hello, i am following step by step your guide and i find the next:

    DMG INSTALL.

    Section 4: step 4.9:

There is no SSDT-1 folder for the i7 4820k.

    So what to do?

I’m gonna try to leave this step and see if it works.

    Reply
    • Make one via my guide and then send it to me and I can add it to the DMG.

      Reply
      • Well, actually i ignored that step and i think its not working because of that.

When i try to load just from the disk installation it get stuck with a forbidden sign (like ghostbuster but in white)

Now I try with the DSDT scrip extractor but it just open the text editor..
But i tried witht he option 2 (mountin EFI) and in the folder:
        EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/Origin

I got nothing there… but in:
        EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/Patched

        I got the DSDT.aml

Now i’m boting up with the USB isntaller with the common comands.

I think i just need some steps more to get this working…

        Thanks for the help.

  11. Hello Andrew,

Today I finally decided to reinstall from scratch my machine to upgrade to Yosemite because I’ve some troubles with my Titan black on Mavericks.
I think I have followed correctly your guide but just after installing kexts, SSDT & SSDT-1, the system crash at startup (Even if I boot from usb stick). Before that everything seems working well.
Please see what happens when it crash : https://www.dropbox.com/s/ayhbax3qvoji03c/2015-02-02%2022.35.56.jpg?dl=0
Looks like a graphic issue, because most of the lines are not visible…
I’ve tried 3 times and each time, the issue appear at the reboot after installing kexts.

    Config :
    – 10.10 and Clover 2.3K_r3156
    – 4930k
    – X79 Deluxe
    – GTX Titan Black
    – SSD Boot disk (partition)
    – 32GB Ram

I’ve tried to boot with -x but the system won’t start. I’ve already verify I’ve took the correct kext file from the dmg, into the “standard Kexts” folder.

Any idea to help me ?

      • Hi,

I already boot with this flag. I’ve also tried to install NVidia drivers before installing kexts, and same issue, the reboot after webdrivers installation is ok but, when I reboot after installing kexts, the system crash.

        • Please follow the set instructions in the READ ME on the DMG and do not do anything else. If you do not follow the set instructions you will have issues. The READ ME is there for you to follow. Doing what you are doing will end up with a broken System. You Need to complete Post Install before doing anything else.

  12. EDIT*
I’ve made another test. The system boots fine until I install the FakeSMC.kext
    I’ve tried this order :
    – Install OSX : ok > reboot
    – Install NVidia web drivers : ok > reboot
    – Install 3 from 4 kexts (All except FakeSMC) : ok > reboot
    – Install FakeSMC.kext : system crash at reboot

    • That GPU has no issues with the FakeSMC on the DMG as I have used it with the Titan Black many times. Sounds to me as something was missed post install causing the issue we see here.

      Reply
      • Ok I finally found my mistake. I still have the “cpus=1” into the clover config as before. Now the system boot perfectly, I’ve re-installed from scratch to disable any other previous issue.
The post install with the X79.dmg is perfectly clean now, I get sound, speed boot, etc.

I’ve now a strange issue after installing Nvidia web drivers. After the installation, when the system is started up, I’ve got now my dual monitors working well and I can see drivers are loaded but each time, one minute after osx is up, fans are getting very very high and crazy ! I was so scared so I shutdown manually my machine. I assume this issue appears only when I disable the flag nv_disable=1

  18. Hmm… the nVidia SSDT on this one, doesn’t like my GTX760’s analogue (VGA) output on the DVI port, but it does work with the HDMI port together with the digital DVI.
I’m looking to get the VGA functionality back, should I restore the older SSDT (from ~2014/12/24) back, or is there a quick way to edit/modify the SSDT to enable the analogue on the DVI again?
It worked before using 10.9.2, but I’ve today updated to 10.9.5.

  19. Andrew,

Thanks for all your very detailed guides here! I’m attempting to rebuild an existing Hackintosh after having problems installing dual video cards using Chameleon and another developer’s rather cartoonish post-install software…

I have an ASUS RIVF board (BIOS 9003) with a 3930K processor and two GTX680s. I followed your MacOSX installation guide for 10.9 with no problems except that when I disabled CSM in the BIOS and restarted, nothing appeared on my screen; the monitor displayed “no signal”. Switching CSM to “auto” allowed me to continue with booting from the USB flash and installing OSX on a Samsung SSD.

I proceeded with the X79 DMG guide and followed all the steps precisely, but my machine KPs when booting from the SSD. Just to be sure I didn’t miss something, I reinstalled OSX from the USB and went through the whole X79 DMG process a second time; still kernel panics.

If having CSM disabled is critical, I need help figuring out why I don’t have an image when I boot that way. The GPU is connected to my monitor by DVI.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    • UPDATE:

With the intense noob-like trepidation, I updated my BIOS to the latest version (5001) and lo, and behold! my OSX suddenly boots from the SSD. No additional boot flags required and now I have two GPUs installed and working!

Oddly, however, I still cannot get a video signal if I disable CSM. I left it on “Auto” and everything seems to be working. Today I proceeded to install an Areca RAID card, an ATTO 10GbE card, and most of my software.

Thanks, Andrew, for the wealth of information posted on this blog!

The boot flags which get me to login are:

After googling the problem I also tried:
turning on EHCI hand-off in BIOS
enable DSDT Fixes HPET0100 and fixUSB1000

    swapping out IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext from 10.8.3
disabling AppleHPET.kext as well as AppleHDA.kext (not both together).

At my wits end. So close and yet so far. Appreciate any help with this.

        1. I can’t turn off CSM as I get an error message in the BIOS saying my GPU does not support UEFI booting. So I leave it on and turn everything to UEFI.

        2. & 3. = will do.

        4. I use HD (now “legacy” hardware) which is not officially supported beyond 10.8. Probably a moot point seeing that I am building a Hackintosh… Apparently PT 10 is fine on Mavericks so I will go with that instead. Yosemite reportedly has graphics issues and since I am a professional user this is not going to work I think (I am not running a commercial studio though).

  30. OK, so I have one problem which is that I can’t seem to get the PCIe slots working. The GPU works, obviously, but it doesn’t matter which of the other slots I try the host card for my expansion chassis is not working and the cards aren’t seen by the system (Pro Tools HD cards in my case).

I tried with an old GT7300 (the only other PCIe card I had lying around) and it doesn’t show up in the system profiler either.

I am sorry if I am missing something obvious but I would appreciate any help with this problem. I did notice that there is nothing regarding PCIe slots in the BIOS. Not sure if this is normal or not.

    • Everything you just said is wrong.

System Profiler is cosmetic and plays no part in a PCI or PCIe card working. Also the GPU listed is not supported under Mac OS X since 10.7.5 32 Bit Boot Mode.

The BIOS has a entire menu dedicated to PCIe lanes. Please read the MB manual.

    SAMSUNG EVO 850 256GB SSD

I’ve installed Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite successfully but had issues about post installation, since ssdt for 4820k didn’t exist and mac was giving kernel panic about AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement (dark screen which says a lot of things, you would find which kext causes the problem, ends with nanoseconds etc). I created ssdt.aml as stated in another guide of RampageDev by entering -TURBO and 3900(max frequency). But for kernel panic issue I had to send an email to Akern and he helped me with that issue, many thanks!

If you have MSI X79 GD45, in the step where you install kexts install also NullCPUPowerManagement from Gigabyte kexts folder. Also I don’t recommend kext helper b7 since it was not responding to quit command and I couldn’t be sure if it installed or not. I use Kext Utility, which is so simple and informs you about every process.

Great guide great help rampagedev! Thanks!

  45. Is the patched kext AICPUPM needed for E5-2697 v2? Will the SSDT work fine for v2?

    Reply
  46. Well I will continue to use it although Stinga11 said for the v2 (Ivy Bridge) processor AICPUPM patching was not necessary? Also is the SSDT you generated compatible with V2 Ivy bridge processor? The DMG labels it as E5-2697 which could be for both sandy and ivy or just sandy bridge-E? Wouldn’t the SSDT be slightly different for these processors? I am guessing I could test that and run the tools to see if Power Management works with or without the AICPUPM.kext. It works fine with it now but if it can work without it then there would be no need for it.

    • Forget the version. Look at the SSDT code. Nothing different. Its like the OCing SSDT’s. Says 4.5 GHz but the MAX clock it supports is 4.5 but what ever the real clock speed set in the BIOS is what matters. Your way overthinking this one.

Very cool work you’ve done! I’ve tried to follow your guide a few times, but I don’t succeed.
After I do Step 2 in the DMG part, my computer restarts as I’m trying to close Kext Helper b7. Also every time I try to close Kext Helper, the program gets stuck and I have to force close it.

After the weird reboot, my computer opens up without problem (booting through the USB install in to my harddrive). I then continue with your guide and when restarting the computer after section 4 I get stuck in the boot with the message:
    – missing bluetooth controller transport.

    My setup is:
    Asus P9X79 WS
    3930k
    NVIDIA GT 610
    64GB ram 1600mhz

I’ve had the computer running on OSX 10.8 with a simple Unibeast install, so I guess it’s possible with 10.10 as well 🙂

Hope you have some suggestions. Thanks in advance. Jesper

There’s a ton of these workstations being offloaded to ebay, and they are really great machines to be turned into hackintoshes, lot’s of expansion, solid all around. These boards are very similar to the ones in the dmg, X79, LGA2011.

You can find my Z820 latest bios DSDT here:

    • Yes, we actually looked at the boards which can be bought very cheaply. They have non standard power connectors so a custom wiring loom would need to be made. Do you have one? Also they have a TB card that slipped by Intels embargo.

      Reply
      • Andrew, yes I have one, there is a catch though, if you get the motherboard by itself it will keep warning you upon startup that the serial # doesn’t match. You have to enter serial and id numbers specific to hp z820 chassis stickers to validate them.
Don’t know any long term effects of not having them.
I believe there’s a z800 motherboard build somewhere on the net with the power connector pinout, don’t know if it’s the same for the 820’s.
It would be awesome to have support for this board.

It’s displayed at ‘2.6ghz unknown’ in system info, which is annoying but not disastrous. what concerns me though, is that intel power gadget reports the CPU is constantly at 3ghz and consuming 80+watts at idle. 63. hi to all,
my initial problem is the following.
I created the usb stick through virtualization, but strangely I can not boot.
It is not the first time I create a hackintosh, but this time is the first time on a dual socket motherboard.
I can not figure out if it is UEFI or legacy.
I recognize that the bios is legacy but I see that I can also select the UEFI mode
The snag is that starting in UEFI mode will not start and I have to make a clear CMOS
so now I’m afraid to move in this direction
someone has experience in this regard?
i ve found and read only now this 3d.
i have X9DRL-IF mother board, this model is like X9Dai…
chipset and many other features is equal…
so can i go ahead and treat my x9drl like the x9dai?
you can explain to me exactly where to find the keks for x9dai/x9drl
Obviously after downloading and installed the dmg X79 if I understand it

certainly, I must first be able to boot from the USB drive.
so kindly anyone knows exactly why can not I boot?
    I set the default bios
disabled VT-x and disabled “com port”
I do not know where to select “OTHER OS” in the menu. given that I read it affects the boot
but the fact remains that by starting from the usb does absolutely nothing, does not allow me even to place a flag such as a -v to verify.
It behaves exactly as if the USB key was empty and still boot from ‘hard drives
thank you all for the help

  66. Hi, AKRD.
    Regards from FreakyChokra.
    I just got a Rampage 4 Extreme & a Xeon E5 2670 V1, about a week ago.
I’ll not be wrong to say, I’m not new to the scene.
However, I have followed your guide & files to the letter ‘T’, and everything is now working.
Before I posted this message, I read the last message & by that, I don’t know if all of my 8 cores or 16 threads are being used or not, but GeekBench 4 posted a multicore score of 19000 something.

My problem is just that, none of my USB3 ports work. I have used the latest GenUsbXhci version 1.2.11.

Also, I tried endless DSDT edits, one of which had a merger of same EH01 code from my previous Sabertooth Z77 motherboard DSDT.
I tried mapping the section somehow to get the USB3 Ports to be enabled. But no success.

    The boot message shows:
    “GenericUSBXHCI::CreateRootHubDevice ? Bus 14 already taken.”

    I have 4 HDDs. 1 has ElCap 10.11.5.
    Another has Sierra.
    3rd has Win 7.

All Usb3.0 work in Windows. Saying it because both the Xeon & R4E are acquired under a used condition sale.

Can you please help in shedding some light in some way?

    Regards,
    Freaky Chokra.

  71. Not sure if this is a known issue, but in order to get Speedstep working on my P9X79 board with 3930K i had to change the SMBIOS from MacPro6,1 to MacPro3,1.
I think this is what Rampage used to use in an older X79 DMG download.
When using the MacPro6,1 model it simply stayed at 3.2ghz and didn’t move or get into a turbo state. I tried creating my own SSDT with Piker’s utility but still nothing, though it again does work when using the Macpro3,1 definition.

Any ideas as to why that might be? I’m happy enough using the MacPro3,1 SMBIOS definition assuming i won’t hit any problems.

    Reply
    • Ok, just an update to my previous problem which is now solved. Although the supplied SSDT didn’t seem to work, i was in the end able to create a working SSDT for the Macpro6,1 SMBIOS using Pikers’s ssdtPRGen utility.

For those that need to do this, you need to use the -c 1 and -w 3 arguments when using it in order to get it working correctly. Also, the -w argument is for some reason not in the latest Beta, so you need to go back to the old master version.

      Reply
      • Hi spike, thank you very much for the heads up. I am building my second Hack with the exact same CPU/MoBo combo and am having the same problem. Where did you find the non-beta version version of the ssdtPRGen utility?

  73. sorry if I am being a n00b but where do you add the -c 1 and -w 3 arguments in the sh script?

    Reply
    • OK, it is obvious: You just type it into the terminal when launching the script. I still get warnings about the board ID not matching in SMBIOS and system type being set improperly (1 instead of 2).

      Reply
      • Yep, run it as this, don’t forget the spaces between the c and 1 argument etc.

        ssdtPRGen.sh -c 0 -w 0 -turbo 4200

Set your turbo to whatever overclock you may have, else you can leave that out.
And yes, i think mine complained about board id as well, but it shouldn’t be a problem. Don’t forget to rename the SSDT to SSDT-1 if you already have one in the Clover folder, probably the Rampage SSDT.

Let me know how you get on.

        Reply
        • I am getting nowhere, unfortunately. Also, my CPU is listed as “Unknown Processor”. I don’t know if this is related to the PM problem or not. Was all you did to generate a new SSDT-1 with the settings -c 1 and -w 3? I replaced the existing SSDT-1 in the patched folder in EFI/Clover/ACPI but it made no difference.

  74. Hmm, ok… so, you installed everything exactly as per the RampageDev X79 instructions? Your processor should be recognised. Does it show ok in system properties?!

And yes, that is all you need to do – generate the SSDT, rename from SSDT to SSDT-1 if need be (you will have to if you’re using the X79 install from this site) and away you go.

I used the ssdtPRGen.sh -c 0 -w 0 -turbo 4200 as i have a mild overclock running, but you shouldn’t need to add the turbo argument if it picks up the processor model.

I am able to get the ports working using a modded Oyen Digital mXHCD.kext that I found on insanelymac, but when that’s working the Inateck cards don’t work. Thoughts?

    2) Is there a benefit to using MacPro6,1 system definition of 5,1? I was using 5,1 with no issues. I switched to 6,1 and don’t notice anything different except that my monitors don’t work on startup at least half the time. This is after using the AGDPfix or using 2 kexts that I found online (installed in Clover’s kext/Other folder) that do the same thing. Should I just go back to 5,1 so I don’t have display issues, or am I gaining something that I’m not yet noticing with 6,1?

    • Ssdt-2 on the DMG has nothing to do with USB. 🙂 Just another Mac driver for something else being loaded that causes some systems to panic.

I will tell you this. From what you just told me there is no way you are using my files from the DMG and or are using them incorrectly. It is impossible to have the GPU issue if using my SSDt.

Power management will never work in 5.1

    • I would remove all Kext you have installed and clover files and install the ones on the DMG. I’ve built 30-40 systems with the same setup more or less that you have and have nothing like you discribed. Email me if you need more help ok?

Looking forward to finding what’s wrong and get you on your way.

      • Regarding SSDT-2 and USB3, you replied to someone else’s question (Luis on May 8, 2015) regarding USB3 previously on this page and told him to use the beta SSDT. In the DMG, SSDT-2 is in the beta folder and there’s no explanation in the guide what it is for, so I installed it thinking it would be for USB3 since you told someone else to use it for USB3.

Yes, I am using all kexts from your DMG except I’m using a newer version of FakeSMC and have hardware sensor kexts installed. Should I downgrade to the older version of FakeSMC in your DMG and remove the sensor kexts?

        Reply
        • There you go. Lol. You can update FakeSMC nor do you need to. That’s part of the issue expecialy with Power Management.

Haswell DMG had a beta USB ssdt-2 for USB. 😉

        • Install are FakeSMC and then reboot. Then send a IOREG and I’ll check a few things

        • Ok done. The only kexts loaded are the ones in the X79 DMG, and using only AGDPfix to get it to boot with the Titan and web drivers. Here’s the IOReg. https://www.dropbox.com/s/a9pnmod1red6s0u/Mac.ioreg?dl=0

I have found that before when I first ran AGDPfix and restarted I would always get a blank screen on startup. The only way to get it to show the desktop was to shut down the computer and remove power to let the power drain from the computer. Then power back up and it would start with graphics working. Since changing to your kexts only and applying AGDPfix it started up with graphics working with just a normal restart. Awesome!

Have you looked at Lilu.kext and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext as a substitute for AGDPfix? Those kexts were getting me to the desktop just as reliably as AGDPfix, before I went back to just your kexts. If it works properly and is stable it would be a good solution as the fix shouldn’t be lost during a system update.

Lastly… USB3. How can I get the board’s USB3 to work without disabling the USB3 ports on the Inateck cards? mXHCD.kext (modified) does get the board’s Asmedia ASM1042 ports working, but I can’t find a way to get it to work without disabling the Inateck cards. Here’s a link to the modification to make to it. I tried the alternate substitute recommended in the thread but it didn’t work. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309225-usb-30-on-asus-p8z68-vgen3-asmedia-controller/?p=2185652

          Thanks!

        • Ok. So I updated the SSDT. We missed the x79 E-WS on are last update. Install the updated SSDT and you wont ever see the issue with the Black Screen ever again!

We don’t need the Lilu kext for what we do. We have considered it but we can correct the issue in the SSDT so why bother adding another kext?

As for USB 3.0 the issue we had for USB 3.0, last we tested on the board hands on was 10.11.5, was that you had to insert the USB device twice into the system. We have a NEC driver which in turn covers some ASMedia chips. Might be the same driver you are using (same version) or are edit could be slightly different.

        • Update: I was doing some editing and the computer froze and restarted on its own for pretty much no reason. When starting MacOS the monitors did not work. So it doesn’t seem to have solved the issue I was having with that. Thoughts?

        • At this point do a clean install and use the updated x79 DMG. As stated before we missed this board in are last round of updates.

GFX0 to GFX1 fixes this issue. Thats the only change and allows the system to boot with no modded kext.

        • Thank you! Just to clarify before I go install with the new DMG… With the new SSDT we don’t need to use AGDPfix app to modify the graphics policy kext either?

        • Correct! The new SSDT fixes this.

        • Thanks for your work on this, but I’m still having issues with the new DMG. Actually, I can’t get the screen to turn on at all, no matter what I do. Before, I would just need to restart multiple times or remove power for a minute then boot, but now that doesn’t even work after about 20 times trying. This is with SSDT and SSDT-1 or all three SSDT’s. Using only the files you provide in the DMG.

      • Update: I can get it to go to the desktop without SSDT-2 and without mXHCD.kext, but I have to add Lilu.kext & NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext. The SSDT doesn’t seem to be successful at preventing the blank screen at boot. Also, mXHCD.kext from the DMG causes blank screen even with those 2 (Lilu & Nvidia fix) kexts installed.

Should I be using SSDT-2? What exactly is SSDT-2 for? There’s no mention of it in the guide.

        Reply
        • You don’t need either of those kext if using the latest SSDT. Please remove and lets find what was missed. Nvidia fix = GFX1 fix in the SSDT. Email me your EFI folder so I can check it as well as a IOREG. There is more going on.

Furthermore we do not use mXHCD with your board and USB ports as previously stated so don’t us it. We use it specifically for NEC chips and not ASMedia. Some have results with the mXHCD so we include it. On our x79-E WS we simply plug in device unplug plug back in and it works using the normal driver included for non NEC chips.

SSDT loads XRES service which is from a MacPro 6,1. Its a additional service that is loaded with the patch. Its only BETA because it causes panics on some systems. More or less if you are not formulae with SSDT/DSDT editing we don’t recommend using it as its for over achievers to work on. 🙂

Long story short. We will find the issue or missing instruction and correct it!

        • Here’s my EFI folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nlxb4aonc4gwur8/EFI.zip?dl=0

This is without those 2 kexts and I just changed NvidiaWeb back to true in the config.plist. I get the screens to turn on more consistently with it set to false, but would like to have it working with true since I may be upgrading to a 1080TI. I cannot get to a desktop without the Lilu and NvidiaGraphicsFixup kexts, so can’t get an IOReg without them. I can’t even screen share without those kexts for some reason.

Just so you’re aware, an mXHCD that I modified according to the insanelymac thread I linked to before does get my Asmedia USB3 ports working, but makes my Fresco ports on the Inateck cards not work. The Generic kext doesn’t get the USB3 ports working for me, even with plug-unplug-plug as you mentioned.

Also, I’m curious about your opinion on this AppleALC.kext that I was using before I tried switching to MacPro 6,1 def. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/m1xphex5q8w1ygl/AAD3ofCv0sal3mUNNnsPuq2pa?dl=0
It gets my audio working without running the AppleHDA mod script in the DMG. I was using this before with no issues and it would keep my audio working even with OS updates, and actually allows me to have a completely clean MacOS drive with no hacks and mods to any files other than what normal software does. I did test it with this current config (with Lilu and NvidiaGraphicsFixup) and it worked great just as before, but I removed it to work on getting these display issues fixed. I don’t have any audio working at the moment.

        • First issue I see with your EFI folder is the Kexts were NOT installed as per the guide. This will cause issues!

AppleALC is ok. We still prefer patching AppleHDA for now.

Email me the Kext you used for USB and I will look at it.

          Need a new IOREG. Thanks!

        • I should also mention that I am using 2 monitors connected to DVI and DP like Shaun below. Could this be part of the issue?

Do you want me to install the Lilu and NvidiaGraphicsFixup kexts and export a new IOReg? I don’t know if those kexts will change the results, but I can’t get into the desktop any other way to get the IOReg.

        • Dont install anything. Just send me a new IOREG.

  86. This guide is the best guide I have found. Went through youtube videos, tutorials, and failed attempts unitl I found the guides here on rampagedev.com Building a hackintosh from the past two weeks has been an extensive trial and error process. From creating a working boot drive to actually getting the hackintosh to run stable was a learning experience. I highly recommend to anyone who is considering building a hackintosh is to build it on a second drive other than your Windows drive. I had three drives. A drive with Windows, a drive I am installing my Hackintosh on, and a third drive for storage. After doing a critical step such as installing kexts, choosing a system definition or installing video drivers on your hackintosh you should log into Windows and save your hackintosh drive partitions on a storage drive. This will include the partition your hackintosh is installed on and your EFS partition. You can do this with a partition manager. I used EASEUS. This way if something goes wrong; and it will if this is your first build, you can revert back to the stable hackintosh. Saved me many many times.

I must also state that my hackintosh kept freezing and/or the cursor would stutter. After watching tutorials I had concluded the cause was the CUDA drivers I had installed. In my case this was not the cause. In my bios I had the XMP set for my ram. The XMP raised the voltage on my ram to 1.65 and my CPU VCCSA to 1.20. After disabling the XMP and reverting my ram back to stock my hackintosh is now running flawlessly.

  87. Was having problems with my screen turning off while booting the Hackintosh using MacPro 6,1. I have a two monitor setup. Monitor A on the Display Port and Monitor B on the DVI Port. I applied several fixes including the AGDPfix and nothing worked. Until I unplugged the Monitor B from the DVI port and plugged it in the HDMI port. On the next boot I logged in successfully with both monitors working. Upon further tinkering I realized that if the CSM in the bios was set to off I can only boot with two monitors if they are plugged into the Display Port and HDMI port. However, If I enabled CSM and choose UEFI boot on the PCI-E slots then I can successfully boot with two monitors using the Display port and DVI port.

  88. Andrew.. I am able to overclock the 4960x to 4.6 using the system definition MacPro 5,1. From what i’ve read it’s not for Ivy Bridge, but it gets me to 4.6ghz. However, if I use MacPro 6,1 or MacMini 6,2 which is from what I’m reading is for Ivy Bridge; I cannot overclock at all? The overclock specs are according to Intel Power Gadget and HWMonitor. I’ve used your 4.5 SSDT and even created one, but still cannot get my system to overclock with the Sys Definition MacPro 6,1 or MacMini 6,2. Not a big deal though. Working great with Sys Definition MacPro 5,1.

    • Doesn’t matter if IPG sees it. 😉

Say the cpu does a calc that takes 120 Ms when at 4.6GHz and 130 Ms when at 4.5 Ghz and the kernel is hardcoded to only start reading at 140 Ms the fact that the higher clock finished faster does not matter. Understand? Some applications will see some slight gains but overall has no effect.

      Hope that clears things up!

  89. Dear Andrew, just have a short question about render artifacts with Davinci Resolve on 10.12.4. Everything works perfect without any problems using your X79 DMG for P9X79-E WS on 10.10.5. So after cloning the 10.10.5 system and upgrading to 10.12.4 and getting the problems, i did a clean install using just your files from the dmg and latest Clover boot loader. Installed different NVIDIA web drives with different cuda versions for 10.12.4 but always the same artifacts when rendering a file in Davinci. Rendering the same project on my MacBookPro late 2016 works perfect. So i just cloned the whole MacBook Pro system and only installed web drivers, cuda and files from your DMG but got the same problems, tried cudo, open cl and metal with latest 14 beta 2. Do you have an idea what could be the problem and perhaps an idea solving the issues?

Thank you so much for providing us with all these resources and advice. You are truly an outstanding, vital member of the community. So many of us wouldn’t have operational builds if it weren’t for your hard work.

Anyway, I had a problem that I ended up solving, but I thought I’d post it here in case anyone else ran into the same issues. I have a 4930k on an Asus X79 Deluxe running 10.12.4-10.12.5. Most things were working but speedstepping and turbo were not; according to Intel Power Gadget, the system would bounce back and forth between 3.4GHz and around 2.9GHz, but no lower. Power draw corresponded to system usage, but frequency did not. I tried using the SSDT-1.aml that you provided, and I tried using Pikers’s ssdtPRGen utility to generate my own (trying various arguments, including -c 1 -w 3 -turbo 3900), but neither fixed my CPU frequency issues. Speedstepping and turbo had been working on my machine on 10.10 (I did a clean install for 10.12).

What ended up working was installing the 10.11 X79PlatformPlugin.kext from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/312859-sandy-bridge-e-ivy-bridge-e-power-management-1012-beta/ . Now everything seems to be working properly, with turbo up to 3.9GHz and idle at 1.2GHz. I tried to read your instructions very carefully, but perhaps I missed something in your guide that would have eliminated the need for this kext.

Also, the only way I could get audio to work was by using xxxxxx.

Thank you again for all your contributions to the community!

    • You did not follow the installation guide and your kexts are not in SLE and are for some unknown reason are installed in Clover EFI folder. How do I know this? Because that Kext is included and if you install the kext in Clover EFI folder it does not load. You did not follow the guide which resulted in Stepping not working. Please re-install the system and follow the DMG Read Me and do not skip or do anything outside of the instructions.

      • Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your reply. I made a Carbon Copy of my install before I tried using stinga11’s kext from insanelymac, so I was able to check your diagnosis. I did not (and do not) have any kexts in my EFI partition, and I had installed the kexts from the X79 DMG (including AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext) to SLE using Kext Helper b7. After checking the Date Modified information in SLE to confirm that those kexts had been installed by me when I was doing post-install work on the OS, I re-installed the kexts using Kext Helper b7 again to be sure, and speedstepping still did not work.

To clarify, am I content with my current install that seems to have gotten speedstepping + turbo working once I installed the kext I got from stinga11, but I wanted to leave this info in case anyone finds themselves in the same situation as I was (even if that means they made the same mistakes I may have made).

        Thanks again!

  96. Hi Andrew,

I just had to reinstall Sierra onto my P9X79 Pro/3930K system. Whereas before on El Capitan i had speed stepping working where it would drop the frequency right down to around 1ghz when idle, my current system fluctuates between 3.4(ish) to 4(ish) The power draw is nicely down though and when i run benchmarks it goes full speed to my overclock at 4.4ghz and the power ramps up and it benchmarks just fine.

I’ve tried both your SSDT-1 files supplied with your X79 DMG and i’ve tried creating my own with Piker’s util, but they all do the same.

So, i’m not too worried as it seems to be performing fine, but i have no idea why it now never drops below 3.4ghz when idling, even though the power draw itself does and the temps at idle are perfect too.

    Any ideas?

I finally got around to upgrading to Sierra (10.12.6) with Clover 4184 from Yosemite on my GA-X79-UD3 with 4930k (no OC at this time). I followed the guide, removed some of the obsolete kexts from the previous DMG, like NullCPUPowerManagement, but although the upgrade succeeded I am running into some issues:
    – USB3 does not work (Seagate USB3 disk does not mount), even though the USB 3.0 bus shows in ‘About This Mac”;
    – I sometimes get random kernel panics at boot, but once the system is up, it is stable.
    – I had to remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext otherwise the system would continuously panic at boot.

    Some potentially non-standard quirks:
    – I have applied PikerAlpha’s NVME patch to boot from NVME. That works fine. I had the same issues though when running of a SATA drive.
    – I am running a GTX1060 with NVIDIA Web Driver 378.05

  105. Hi all, does anybody know how to disable AppleintelCPUPM Patch from within Clover Configurator?
In CC ticking or un ticking the AppleintelCPUPM selection at “Kernel and Kext Patches” section makes no difference. I still see appleintelCPUPM Patch selected in clover option at boot and i need it disabled cause i lose all stepping and turbo functions…..
    than you in advance
