If there is anything that you would like to ask feel free to post it here. Please comment on what guides need clarification or guides that you wish to see.

I have been very busy with my current day job and have had to neglect responding to E-mails and Comments alike. I will be responding to all of these over the next 3 days. More news regarding the Dual CPU system will follow this weekend as I am testing a few more edits before we declare the system complete! Thank you to all who have donated and we will be releasing the DMG by the end of the Month.

  2. Hello!

In your PCI slots ID guide, I’ve been able to create an SSDT where it would correctly detect my NVIDIA card with the right PCI slot, now I’m more to make it work with an DSDT but I have no idea which of the two methods you have do I need to use, or where exactly to place the code..

    A little help please,

    Thank U!

  5. I try to follow your directions and unable to get to the installer. If I document all my steps with screenshots and save them in order as a pdf, would you be able to review where I went wrong?

  7. I am looking for a “stable” and fast machine with lots of ram. What would you say is the best supported chipset/mobo/cpu? Budget for cpu, mobo and ram 2000 dollars.

  8. “The Haswell DMG is designed to be used as a Post Install solution for AMD Motherboards running Mac OS X 10.9.0 or newer.”

So I should use .plist file from Haswell DMG? I’m installing onto AMD system and I can see that there is Chameleon bootloader inside your AMD DMG but in your Guide it says that I should use Clover. So, wich bootloader should I use and do I have to have UEFI-bios for first installation or just for Post Install?

    Thank you! Cheers!

  9. Upgraded my rig to El Capitan over the weekend. All went well, with the exception of my USB 3.0 ports. None work, although a couple are working at USB 2.0 speeds. I see alot of discussions about this around, but no solutions. Any help for my Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH based system? Thanks!

  10. Andrew,
Do you have any thoughts about using for a Hackintosh this Supermicro motherboard – https://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon/c600/x9drx_-f.cfm . It supports lots of GPUs under Windows (~13-14 GPUs) and even more (~20 GPUs) under Linux.

    • Since Apple removed the Max GPU limit I would love to try it. Think you could get me one to borrow?

      • Other than the motherboard itself, what else would you need to borrow?

        • Beware: Mobo has eleven x8 sized slots (10 x True x8 slots and 1 x X4 slot electrically); so to truly max it out with GPUs I’m using x8 to x16 riser adaptor cards plus x16 to x16 risers cables, along with three Amfeltec x4 (quad) GPU Oriented Splitters.

        • CPUS and coolers. Not a fan of constantly pulling out CPUS from motherboards due to Intels GRID design. Could be the same 2870 that I’m using.

The only issue with risers in Mac OS X normally has issues with them if they are not externally powered.

  11. Hi Andrew,

Is possible to have an overclock lower than 4,5 (X79) with power management? How?

  12. Andrew,

My current X9DRXs are vital to my keeping my GPU render farm up and running. How can I contact you by email to discuss some further issues we need to resolve involving my lending you an X9DRX w/CPUs and coolers which I expect to soon to be purchasing within the next month or two.

  13. Hello!

tried to do the injection for two gpu’s: 1 titan x and 1 gtx680
reading the guides, the following confused me:

is the titanZ a 700 series and the titanX a 900 series card or both 700 series? and there is even a new proTitanX arriving soon….

    section13:
    there are 3 methodes
    – do I need to insert all 3 of them one after the other or select just one of them until it works?

section14, part3/No.6, “paste the code between the two brackets”:
    – the following code listet here in p3/no6, or the methods from section 13? (all notes in part4 are refering to the code listet in here in part3 – doesnt seem to be gpu specific)

section14, part4 cosmetic fixes, VRAM value:
    – 0xF0 seems to be 4GB ?
    – values for 8GB and 12 GB ?

    thank you for your time
    & cheers,
    kurt

  14. hi there,

hope all is well. what are the odds of being able to acquire an x79 motherboard? i would prefer this because of its compatibility, but they seem hard to come by these days. where are some good places to find them?

would i be better off building an x99 workstation for editing/color grading/after effects?

    • as a followup, what is your preferred choice for x79 motherboards, in terms of compatibility and reliability?

      Reply
      • Asus x79-E WS is the best board. Followed by the Asus x79 Deluxe. Both released near the end of x79 as a main stream chipset.

        • andrew, thanks again for your input. I am going to build an x99 rig using the asus x99-a/3.1 your x99 dmg lists the asus x99-a as being compatible, but i was wonder about usb 3.1 compatibility, and if there are any other changes that may affect compatibility or stability. i also have the option to order the regular x99-a, which has usb 3.0 and not 3.1

        • 3.1 is not supported under Mac OS X.
