I would like to start by wishing everyone a Happy New Years. This past year has been very busy and difficult for myself and I have not have much time to work on the site let alone major developments.  Next year, for now, looks like my life will return to a normal schedule. For all of us I hope this is the case.

I will be buying a Z270 system once it is released. Also I have been looking into a HP Z420 Motherboard and HP Thunderbolt card (x79) based as a low cost EOL LGA 2011 system. This would cost less then $300. Anyone interested in this system?

  1. We wish you a happy new year and all best!
And could ad that we are interested in anything you do because it just works, thanks for that!
    (I have a supermicro x9dai perfect macpro)
But I also have not one but two asus Z9PA-D8, with your power management it runs perfectly but without graphic card, tried gtx780, 980, 970, only onboard graphic boots.I know I need dsdt but tried to make it but after a week I gave up.
So that motherboard coul be on your list maybe…

    • Willing to ship the board to me? Really the only effective way for me to work with the Dual CPU systems. Z9PA-D8 has always been the trouble child. If EVGA had not stopped making the SR-X Motherboard everyone would have had that board.

  2. My question is about Polaris Card. Do you consider a way to get acceleration? I have a Rx 480.

I modified the ID on Clover.

    • Hard code it in the SSDT Table. A RX 480 (other then openCL) is the same as a GTX 780 and the same price if you look it up. Don’t understand peoples obsession over it.

Would be open to getting a loner one to do a write up.

      • I believe nvidia cards has stopped making drivers. Open CL, Final Cut, works better with amd cards.

I really want to get working an nvidia 1080!!!!!

  3. I would love to ship the board to you if I was from the US, I’am from europe so the shipping back and forth would be i think over the price of the board.
Shure there is someone in the “neighbourhood” that can get you the asus.

  4. For z270, hoping we can get you the Designare board. It has not been officially announced but it is already on the gigabyte compatibility list for the GC-Alpine Ridge add-in card so it would seem to be coming soon enough.

  5. Hi Andrew,
Tried emailing you and also calling you. Can you please get back to me please? It’s been over 2 weeks since we last spoke. Thanks…

  6. So the HP Z420 would be a X79 system with Thunderbolt? That does sound very interesting! That in combo with a 4960x or a fast Xeon would make for competitive system.

    • Yep. My only issue is I simply don’t need another system so if someone wants to give it a go and mail it to me it would be a mad cheap system. Also I believe these boards only support the Xeons. Would need to dig deeper to know for sure.

  7. Hello, Andrew.
On the motherboard Asus Rampage IV Extreme, the SATA 2 (3Gb/s) ports are recognized as Internal HD, and the Intel SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ports are recognized as External HD. Got some way to change that ?

  8. hey Andrew thank you for you time I want to buy gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 mob you can help me to make ssdt for it ???

  9. Hi to everyone!
What would be the appropriate SMBIOS for a skylake build? Asus Z170i Pro + i5-6500.

  10. I really wish you develop a Z420 Andrew. It’s one of the most accesible X79 systems there.
Oh, don’t forget also the good old X58 mobos too 🙂
